Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Agreed. For some reason I saw those slots as being reversed from the norm.

There's an inlet somewhere, though.

On the outside of the diffuser. I've highlighted the one on the right with a faint yellow.

@bhallg2k, can this be your entrance, on the line from red to black, above and behind your cheese-something?

EDIT: Zoomed-in picture.
The start of the convex shape of the diffuser. That has been there. Although what they're now doing with air there may have changed. See pic below from Bahrain.

It seems the two lateral black cheese graters could be the outlet for the central radiator (whose position is maybe different)

You're right, shelly. And they've been there. For some reason, they looked backwards to me when I first suggested that they could be an inlet for the double-blown diffuser.

I know this mights be batshize crazy but what if the inlet you are looking for is inside the sidepods hidden from view. then there is a thin passage between the top and bottom of the floor between the hole you found to the sidepod. a kind of tunnel between the inside of the sidepod and the hole you found.

then the hole you found would have hot air from the sidepods flowing out of it pulled directly from the bottom of the sidepod using the ventury effect. as the air rushing past this hole will be moving very fast in comparison with the air in the tunnel, it would pull hot air out of the slower moving sidepod air.

its not a pushrod...its a pullrod
Yes, it is... My hands are faster than my mind :)

But, the question is still valid. Is the rod mounted higher???

I think that's a vent rather than an inlet.

But perhaps there's not an inlet.

The angle of the picture sucks, but the area I've highlighted in green could be curved forward in such a way that it collects everything passing over the floor and redirects it to the side of the diffuser.

Hopefully some better photos will emerge as the day wears on.
