Mercedes AMG F1 W03

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I really want to know what that new floor does under the gearbox.

Also notice that the DDRS tubes going from end of the engine cover into the rear crash structure are gone, is is that MGP dropped the DDRS after all...
Doubtful, why would they do that? After spending so much time on it and were possibly hiding it pre-season.

Perhaps they found a different trick? But I fathom why they'd drop it.

Are you sure, I think it's still there; look carefully:

I think the addition of the "Lemur Lounger" was only a matter of time. Mercedes issues with tyre wear are well documented and this development will help to ease some of their problems. Its "bolt on" DF, the sort they need to work out these Pirelli's.
Compared to the McLaren monkey seat, this looks far more intricate. Perhaps not better or worse, but certainly more elegant IMO.

I disagree, i think the mclarens is more elegant, the merc one looks very basic and boxy.

If you look at the arrow on the left side you see the top of the first endplate and then the 2nd, just like what a surprise the other side :P

Here is without arrows
It's just the angle of the photo, it's not asymmetric. This happened with the last wing I believe. Look at the picture below. Notice how the opposite side looks like it's leaning in instead of the one in your picture with the arrows. Perspective/angle is a crazy thing.

The look can be deceiving; the real question is which one provides more performance?

Does anyone know if Merc made any rear suspension adjustments?

The Mercedes stints of these three days are being too much slower than the other teams. Evolution is not going well... :(

I don't know if it is something new or related to a change on the rear suspension, but it is clear from this picture, that the left and right upper suspension arms were made from different materials. That is all I can see in the last three days in this area.

Cool.

I was speculating and was expecting Costa's skills to be put to good use to help with the tyres in that area. :)
