Ferrari F2012

It seems they have ditched one of the slots ahead of the rear tyre. It looks like there's only 2 slots now instead of 3.

The FWEP's look new, but I'm not positive.

And I believe the sidepods are slightly different than the older ones. A little more undercut towards the rear end side of the Shell logo.

The new diffuser is similar to the one ran in pre-season at Barcelona but still different from it. Same vortex generators but indents on the gurney flap and the strakes are way differently shaped than anything before.

Is that correct?
Not if you can get the exhaust gasses to the edge of the floor beside the rear tyre. It's less powerful than last year but teams are trying it. If a team can get said seal, they can run more rake. But Ferrari has abandoned this route and went for a more neutral exhaust position.

I think the diffuser works at a certain height the best.
IF you go above that you will loose downforce but if you manage to seal the diffuser with the exhaust gases you can then raise the diffuser and thus create a bigger "virtual" diffuser, and you also have the front wing closer to the ground which will produce more downforce.

So you could probably say that the car with the most rake also has the best exhaust solution to sealing the diffuser. might be wrong though :)

Larger shot of new diffuser. Very large so to save bandwidth I'm just linking the picture.

Very interesting. Do these "slots" sound to anyone else like the evolution of this exhaust placement that scarbs was suggesting? (will try to find the link)
This was the picture I was thinking of:

I don't see any evidence of this evolution so far, but that's to be expected. Will be interesting to see if they go in this direction in future sessions/races.

Interesting piece of carbon close to the top wishbone near the exhaust. It almost looks like an exit of some sort no?

Cool opening on the floor to the right of the tire.

Edit: Also, is the little "out-take" in front of the exhaust new?
(between exhaust and Fiat logo)

Edit2: Exhaust housing looks new, no third slot behind the exhaust tip.

I noticed that yesterday when it was blanked off. It seems they're opening up pretty much everything the rules will allow.

But the new carbon black zone under exhaust - ex acer duct can be an hint that at some speed exhaust plume or a part of it goes there by coanda effect/ or lower pressure

Or maybe it's just aesthetic

Here you go.

You can also see sector times through the drop down menu.

Was Massa using the same car?
