Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think we will see that either in FP2 or tomorrow.

Hi to all. New to F1 technical. Read it for a long time, but now I feel I can be part of it. Been on twitter for a while.

Is this on the photo 3rd iteration of exhaust or its illusion?

At best he might have gotten tripped up by the new black painted uprights. i really like the look of that. makes the car look smaller and not as bulky at the front end. and kind of matches the heat sheilding on the exhausts at the back end.

In the last picture there seem to be a small black duct over the floor near to the sidepod as if channelling air to the lower part of the so called starter hole.
If so, it would be like an upside down ddd, a border-line rule takinkg, aka the (in)famous byrne floor rumored since this winter.

Is it there or am I being misled by a reflection (and a dose of wishful thinking)?

I am also curious to see if the layout of the gerabox radiator has been changed. Hope som stripped pics will be available during the weekend

id say those are two ripples on the floor and i would say maybe that is the mystical byrne floor but i've been tricked by this car so many times i'm starting to think the f stands for Frank N Furter.

It certainly looks like that. But ACER ducts are very short. No gills with more black carbon material then on launch spec car.

Look on page 283. There are two pictures on it and the position doesn't look like it's changed it all.

Are the gills on the second photo lost or is it just an illusion due to the angle?

@crucial: thanks for the hint, it indeed seems in the same position.
Do you have better views of the coke bottle zone? it seems that the starter hole has a long slot extending towards the front, mating with what seems a duct a la rb8. But it could be just a reflection.

@C_X, do you still have pictures from late pre-season testing? The "new" diffuser looks awfully familiar.

i think that the starter motor hole area is really open on both sides because u can see small pieces debris on that area!
