Prime rear tyres? I know Rosberg went with a mix of old and new tyres but surely Senna's can't have been old enough to make the markings as faded and grey to appear as prime.

The yellow markings were rubbed on on the previous lap from the contact with Roman Grosjean

Any ideas on what the benefits are of the lower slots in the rear wing endplates? More flow to the underside of the wing elements?

I think the Renault Engine has a lot to do with their resurgence.
Renault provide strong customer support with a dedicated unit at Lotus Red Bull and Williams (not sure about Caterham). They also seem to be ahead of the game with torque control and fuel consumption
I dont believe much can be read into a power difference between the motors, its' won the last two Constructors and the Lotus is constantly one of the fastest cars in a straight line.

The other benefit they have had is the guidance of Rubens, surely his experience has helped the car develop to where it is now and I for one am slightly disheartened that he wasn't around to see them win.

Technically its not an Overly aggressive solution, but infact a well balanced platform that enables the driver to control its tyres very well. I dont think much can be read into its shear speed this weekend as this season is not about which car is ultimately the fastest, but rather which car / team can race the best on these tyres.

Given that; a very respectable drive by Maldonado, showing a wise head to go toe to toe with one of the most revered in the field.

I think people are reading a little too much into this win. It doesn't mean Williams are going to suddenly become dominant. If they prove this form for a couple of races, then I will believe it.

I still think tyres played a major part more than most people think. The Williams was good on it's tyres in previous races; they probably hit the sweetspot here? Who knows.

Remember what happened to Perez and Sauber?

Congratulations to Williams and Maldonaldo, nonetheless.

I agree with that, and wonder if it's down to the engine's ability to run with relatively minimal concessions made for cooling.

Red Bull's been able to use incredibly tight bodywork for unfettered aerodynamic efficiency; Renault/Lotus, despite the lack of on-track success enjoyed recently by Red Bull, has had the freedom to explore a very wide range of design concepts throughout the life of its V8, which did bring home Championships in 2006; and Williams now have a car that, because of its ultra-short gearbox and new powerplant, effectively ends in front of the rear wheels.

That degree of flexibility cannot be found amongst the Mercedes teams and certainly not with the Ferrari runners.

That's illegal - the tyres are in designated sets - they're numbered. Say you took set number 331, which is all options. You're not allowed to take 3 tyres from 331 and the right rear of 332 - even if they're all options.

If you look closely on the broken RW picture you can see a few spots of yellow markings still on the tyre...
