Me and my team need some help!

Post

Hey everyone, I'm Kris, I don't post here that often but i'm a faithful lurker, all I'm asking for is a tiny favour. I'm just about to go in to my 2nd year at Huddersfield University, and the team that I helped build and run need some help!

What is H-KARTS?
"H-KARTS are the University of Huddersfield's representatives in the 2012 British University Karting Championship. As a team, we largely comprise of engineering students. However, anyone with a passion for motorsport in the Uni is more than welcome to join our society!"

Alongside competing in the BUKC (we placed 16th this year - our first attempt!), we regularly take 20-30 people karting at our local indoor track 40 minutes down the road. Even though the society was only founded in 2010, we're now the fastest-growing in Hud - currently we have 30+ paid members, and more so that come karting with us now and again. However, as I'm sure some of you are aware, motorsport is damn expensive. As we're still a fledging society, the University is reluctant to fund us to the level of other sports such as football, rugby, and snow-sports. Obviously we've made progress recently, but we're still struggling to cover costs for transportation, test days, promotion etc.

As well as being a great sport to get in to, karting is very useful for engineering students looking for some 'hands-on' time. Although we have a kart currently in the University at our disposal, it's in dire need of some new parts (ideally, we'd sell it and buy one that actually works). Long story short, more funding = more track-time, more trips, and more fun.

What do I need from YOU?

A few weeks ago we entered the RBS ESSA scheme; the winners of which could potentially win up to Β£5000 funding for their society. Each university must submit a 4-minute long video as their 'pitch', and those which draw the most views from now until the end of the competition have the greatest chance of being selected. Yeah, our video isn't great, but we're doing the best we can with the tools at our disposal.

TL;DR: Click where it says above and carry on with your day. Thanks for your time if you read this and helped out :)

If I wire your club money from my Swiss Bank Account, and hook you up with some sponsors, what do I get in return?
Hypothetical question of course.

So essentially this society is a group of people who go to your local indoor track for a race? I don't understand what the aims are for this, your team placed 16th in the BUKC, however it only consists of 3 people out of 30+ people you talk about within the society, so people are paying to just have people to race against at a local indoor track. I may have got it completely wrong, but I don't see what the aim is. :)

I just saw this reply, 2 years late thanks to someone who said good luck so sorry but an update might justify why I asked for this. Nick it was much more than that, Karting is a great relief from your studies, being backed allowed us to fund more teams and compete at a higher level than before, hopefully when you reach uni/if you already have, you'll see the benefit this can bring.

Since this video we have:
Secured Sponsorship from Microsoft
Secured a former Porsche Supercup driver
grew in size twofold.
Run three teams at national level, not just the one
