I start to wonder about the employment strategies of those companies. There should be enough skilled engineers on the market so that a automotive company doesn't need to use employees out of different subjects. There are even those which have practical knowledge but it seems like the companies are not even interested in them. And then on the other hand some want highest skilled engineers but are unwilling to pay a realistic salary especially in motorsports.
