they have DRS now. it wouldnt be a procession anymore.myurr wrote:
But with durable tyres you end up with a procession as qualifying is sorting the cars into speed order. If you have tyres under you to be able to attack then you have tyres under you to just pull away or defend. The drivers are able to one stop this race, how much more durable do you want the tyres to be? 29 laps on the super softs, 47 odd I think on the softs. What tyre life would you like to see?
I agree. But until we get that parity, I'd take the 'crutch' of fragile tyres over processional racing any day.Jersey Tom wrote:Only if there is no parity in the field. That's always been the case. When was the last season where either tyres or fuel weren't conserved to some degree or another.Goran2812 wrote:Smedley: "Keep your tires fresh, he doesn't look so happy, maybe we can have a go in the end..." <- This is racing now...keeping your tires fresh! Bollocks!
First off, I never said anything. I certainly never said better.myurr wrote:So why is 2010 being a closely fought season better than 2012 being a closely fought season?
Ha ha ha ha ha. Tyres are artificial, DRS is not!?!?fiohaa wrote:they have DRS now. it wouldnt be a procession anymore.myurr wrote:

they'd all be driving flat out, and able to overtake because of DRS.
the fastest driver/car would win. this is how it should be.
And this in spite of restrictive regulations... does that mean a budget cap is the answer?Jersey Tom wrote:Only if there is no parity in the field. mate, it has never been so extreme! they're cruising, setting almost identical lap times instead of fighting and trying to pass... this is not racing...myurr wrote:That's always been the case. But you can have a closely fought season with dull and processional racing. 2010 wasn't a great year for racing, wasn't too bad, but wasn't great.bhallg2k wrote:First off, I never said anything. I only pointed to something you said. A closely fought season, by your own admission, doesn't require silly putty tires.
Just like you, and several others, seem awfully attached to polluting every thread with untrue comments about a lottery. I'm happy to stop defending the tyres when everyone else stops attacking them all the time.bhallg2k wrote:You know, for someone who likes this brand of racing, you sure are awfully defensive about it. If you like it, enjoy it. Don't worry about what others say.
This is Monaco and they're being backed up by each other. There have been many processional races over many many years no matter what the tyres do. Blaming the tyres in this race is counterintuitive where they have given us variation in pace and real racing in other races.Goran2812 wrote:mate, it has never been so extreme! they're cruising, setting almost identical lap times instead of fighting and trying to pass... this is not racing...
