Montréal, Sunday, June 3, 2012 – With regret, the Grand Prix du Canada announces today the cancellation of the popular ‘’Open Doors’’ day, originally scheduled for the morning of Thursday, June 7. Following a serious examination of the situation, made necessary by public disruption threats and the difficulty to measure their precise validity, the organizers came to the conclusion that it is necessary to restrain the access to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and precisely the F1 pit lane, on the day preceding the first sessions on track.

I'm from Vancouver so I don't have much more to offer than you guys. I hate to get into stereotypes but this is somewhat stereotypical of them. They can be, er, a little uppity sometimes. In 1995 they held a referendum as to whether Quebec should secede and become autonomous, and the vote failed by 50.6% to 49.4%. Here's an opinion piece on the tuition issue: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/commenta ... le4104304/.

We joke that if you want to visit France, you should really just go to Quebec because they'll treat you just as badly for half the money.

They've had problems like that (but not as bad) at Gilles Villeneuve, particularly in 2008.

Does anyone know why it happens? I know Michigan gets pretty extreme temperature changes from winter to summer.

They both hold a grand prix with lots of straights, traction zones and heavy braking.

DRS activation point is 600m ahead of the chicane leading to start finish. 50meters later than last year.

My weather report says dry weekend (some showers on friday) and 21-25°C.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

just looked at what tyres are being used, anyone else stunned at the choice of soft - super soft?

going to make for a 3 stopper at least and a bobbins Q3 session
