I think those men are lacking something very important rather than having large balls.

The fad is known as Skywalking:

Somehow I think applying the word 'fad' to risking your life doing handstands at 1000 ft implies a superhuman level of stupidity.

Now you are gonna cop an attitude cause somebody is not as impressed as you? I think fad applies as I don't think it's going to catch on with the general public. I think they're stupid not ballsy.

You cannot see if they have any kind of nylon wire to secure them just in case...

I meant they're stupid, not Websta.

Oh, I think what these guys do is very impressive, although they can't be all there mentally. There's got to be something wrong with them, probably on a molecular level.

They are clearly like racing drivers, don't you think? They enjoy the rush and lack the normal fear response.

I read a quote from a Michelin engineer in Car and Driver a few years ago that went like this: "Most people, when given the choice between cornering at 1g and going straight on and hitting a tree, will choose the tree."

I think there are psychological parallels.

There are similarities - racing drivers certainly enjoy the adrenaline rush they get whilst racing. I'm sure these lunatic skywalkers get a massive rush, like free-harness rock climbers do. But the big difference would be that racing drivers get enjoyment from the actual racing (the fights for position they have, the perfect lap in qualifying) - the same enjoyment I can get from a racing video game - and of course the massive forces and sense of speed. I don't think the danger of racing is appealing to the drivers, but it must be a factor for the "skywalkers" as it dominates the activity. They probably get a lot of enjoyment out of the spectacle they have created as well, sort of like how people would try and "plank" in exceedingly dangerous situations (nothing like this though) to get likes on Facebook.

I can't really think of another activity were the thrill is just from the danger of the situation. Off the top of my head I would say snake wranglers are pretty similar, especially the people who try to touch a cobra on its head. All extreme sports at least offer some type of physical activity (rock climbing, river rafting) or some type of experience (like skydiving or base jumping). I guess the skywalkers could enjoy the view as well.

I have raced in karting and the thing that gives the thrill, is manhandling the kart round the corners hoping that it will stick, diving down the inside of a corner hoping they wont turn in on you and the danger element is a factor too the enjoyment of it, but the others is trying to get the perfect lap, and everything around the racing, like your friends, the mechanical work, the physical work, and the laughs you get out of it, but I wouldnt get the same enjoyment out of skydiving, as its more than just the adrenaline rush, it is the whole package,

and to answer the question, i do think that racing drivers have balls :D

If they already feel comfortable pulling those moves off under normal circumstances, then why not add some 'scenery' to spice things up a bit ? Still, it doesn't prevent them from looking like idiots to us. Much the same way a modern racing driver negotiating a corner at 300 kph would look to a person who has never seen a car their whole life.

IMHO That's nothing compared to this:

There's a correspondence with this following video, just from another perspective, so you can really see how fast they're going. As said in the comments they aren't flying, they're "falling with style". 2:40 from the first video corresponde with 1:10 from the second one.

That's some balls over there..
