Yep, I was suggesting a similar cut out for Rbr before the first practice startedGoran2812 wrote:genius... 1 mm cut out on the floor edge and you're legal...
Please expand. I thought the teams have used wheel rotation (fan duct?) for decades. Are you talking about something else?bhallg2k wrote:Even before Williams went to that style of brake duct I wondered why teams didn't use the wheel's rotation to cool the brakes. It makes so much more sense.
Different teams have different philosophies. McLaren for instance always use a bigger wing in Canada than others and they go strong around here. Perhaps we'll see a different RW but I doubt it.alogoc wrote:Other teams seem to use low downforce rear wings Ferraris are quite big!
Maybe low downforce ones not used yet!
No, I should have said that it makes more sense to solely use the wheel's rotation to cool the brakes, instead of incurring the drag penalty of collecting air flow to cool them.hardingfv32 wrote:Please expand. I'm not sure, but the RBR solution wouldn't be legal just with that cut from the edge, because it was also far inside of the outside 5 cms of the floor where those 'slots' are allowed... That's what I understood.siskue2005 wrote:Yep, I was suggesting a similar cut out for Rbr before the first practice startedGoran2812 wrote:genius... 1 mm cut out on the floor edge and you're legal...
Was surprised to see they didn't use this solution
