COTA Austin - construction and infrastructure

Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.

What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

You can grab a three-day general admission pass for a mere $159. The G.A. ticket gets you berm seating all over the track, and you can wander around at will.

Grandstand tickets at the favored turns will cost more of course, from $269 to $499. Still, even the best ticket available (without a PSL) will be cheaper than many folks will pay a ticket broker for the Texas vs. OU football game this year.
Personally I think the G.A. is the deal of the century.

Anyone bitching about $160 for a three day pass either needs a better job (I can't afford it right now... I need a better job too. lol) or needs to pull their head out of 1965. I've paid more for less.

I tweeted a phone image earlier today of paving that has reached just past turn 10. Later, my associate Vance took some better shots from the turn 11 bleacher area. The flat area you can see in the foreground of most of these photos is where the turn 11 bleachers will sit:

Below is a very magnified shot of the turn 12 area from literally just a few feet directly behind where the turn 11 bleachers will be. What looks like a pile of dirt in the distance is the tunnel, so that gives you a reference to turn 12, and you can see its flag just beyond.

This track is beginning to remind me of Road America, imagine the old Group 7 cars there?

Yeah, I guess ol' Andretti does like dollars. Certainly you wouldn't begrudge him that, now would ya?

If i was him, I'd ask for the greenbacks upfront, no offence.

None taken, and I agree. After all, his track record in this regard doesn't exactly point to a Midas touch.

Indeed, advocating a dying CART and setting up his son against Senna was perhaps not the greatest of ideas either?

honestly think you should look at it more extensively
I've contacted COTA three different times and I still haven't heard back from them, but all signs point to there being no support races currently scheduled.
