UEFA Euro 2012

Post

No thread yet, to my surprise, so here we go.
Who are you guys cheering for anyway? And who do you think will be in the final/win the tournament?

As usual with Belgium not present, I'm supporting The Netherlands, but that got a big dent yesterday.
Other than that, I'm just picking my favorite race by race.

My favorites are Spain and Italy. Spain is the top gun for most but the team doesn't have the momentum without Villa at the fore, but I hope they work better the next time around because they need the points. A tie with Italy hardly did them any favors. Fabregas was a mad man today and I could see the goal in his eyes from early on, so I was happy to see him prove me right.

And in regards to Italy, I like the team although I wish they would ditch Balotelli. They proved to be very offensive today and it was impressive, Cassano was on key and had plenty of near scores.

Russia proved to be surprising though, with their 4-1 win over the Czech Republic. Kudos to them and I hope they keep it up as they face stronger competition.

My team is Italy and today's match against Spain was a good result for the Azzurri. I was very perplexed before the game as the Italians had a poor showing in their recent friendly matches. Today's match was entertaining.I hope the Italians build on that strong performance.

Italy was indeed playing very well, not very defensive at all. They certainly had the best chances as well.
Balotelli screwed a huge one, and then 2 minutes later his replacement Di Natalo netted his first chance. I would think that Di Natalo will start the next match, and rightly so.

I'm already looking forward to France vs England.

I'm a Germany fan. After the disappointing UEFA Champions League final this year (a Bayern Munchen fan too), I hope that DFB can get the European trophy. The thing is since I've become a Germany fan since 1998 (when I was 7) the team has won no championships! Will this be the year I finally see them actually winning something? I hope so [-o<

The race between Russia and Poland wasn't as good as I expected it to be, seeing how I thought we were going to be in for more goals. But oh well.

Sadly, Bulgaria doesn't participate in this Euro 2012, so no favorite team, quite good matches so far.

As for today's match, I cannot believe how Italy managed not to win against Croatia. They played an utterly dominant first half, and then let it all go after the break. Strange...

The Netherlands are out, surprisingly.
Portugal 2 - 1 Netherlands

From Group B Portugal and Germany advance.

Did anyone see the Portuguese Referee foul the player in the Ireland Match?

I personally thought it was deliberate, but what do you think?

That was really odd. Referee even didn't pause the match for what he did. I would blame the referee if Spain scored a goal at that moment.
