I don't know about 5 - I'm thinking more like 3 - but that's nitpicking the details. I agree he will re-sign for McLaren

From the noises both camps are making, and the lack of seats in any other top team, I think we're likely to see Hamilton sign a 5 year McLaren deal.
I am still hopeful that LH will pull a surprise and leave Mclaren. Personally I think it will be better for his career if he go to team to find new challenges instead of living in his comfort zone.

I think McLaren is Lewis's best option at the moment, except if he can somehow land a Lotus. I think Lotus is a team on the up, and could be a possible avenue. Heck I touted them as a possible for 2012 Lewis, but that door shut once Raikkonen popped his head in IMO.

Mind you I wouldn't mind a team move. We've had an incredibly stable - too stable for fun, anyways - team roster of late.

lets throw this one out there, what if Schumacher is getting sick of the lack of wins and podiums, and decides to go to Ferrari to replace Massa, Lets face it Perez will end up at Ferrari some day, so until that day what if Schumacher returned to the team?

just pure speculation :)

I don't think anyone in their right minds would ever go for an Alonso-Schumacher partnership

Doesn't exactly count for much considering he left Ferrari after all those years, championships and even staying on as a possible reserve driver and driver mentor, does it? Schumacher was synonymous with Ferrari in a lot of people's eyes. I'm still not used to seeing him drive a Mercedes road car.

He didn't leave Ferrari, he stayed with Brawn.

He stayed on in Ferrari as a consultant, brand ambassador and driver coach to Massa from 2006-2009. Brawn took a sabbatical in 2007, then 2008-2009 saw him at Honda.

Hamilton takes a huge pay cut and goes to Sauber? That would be refreshing in this modern era of megasalaries.

I was tipping Lotus as a potential move for him end of last year (when they were still known as Renault). Alas, lo and behold I don't think that's a possible route anymore.

Williams perhaps? The Williams has been quicker than the McLaren at several times this year - maybe he feels that the remaining difference at those tracks where the McLaren quicker is the driver, and so would like to leave for Williams? Would also replicate Senna's team move, which would be a big added bonus for Hamilton, who is quite the Senna fanboy.

Id recon that Hamilton will re sign with McLaren for 2013 on a one year deal.

Rumor has it that Senna is on a wobbly chair with Kimui and Vergne and Riccardo.

The grid for 2013 is looking like this so far:

01/02] Scuderia Ferrari = Alonso/(Massa, Perez, Di Resta, Hulkenberg)
03/04] Red Bull-Renault = Webber/Vettel
05/06] McLaren-Mercedes = (Hamilton, Di Resta)/Button
07/08] Lotus-Renault = Raikkonen/Grosjean
09/10] Mercedes AMG = (Schumacher, Di Resta/Hulkenberg)/Rossberg
11/12] Sauber-Ferrari = Perez/(Kobiyashai, Sutil, Bianchi)
14/15] Force India-Mercedes = (Di Resta, Hulkenberg, Bianchi, Sutil)/(Di Resta, Hulkenberg, Bianchi, Sutil)
16/17] Williams-Renault = Maldanado/(Senna, Bottas)
18/19] Toro Rosso-Ferrari (Riccardo, Vergne, Alguersauri)/(Riccardo, Vergne, Razia)
20/21] Caterham-Renault = Kovalinenn/(Petrov, Rossi, Van Der Garde)
22/23] Marussia-Cosworth = Glock/Pic
24/25] HRT-(Cosworth/Ferrari/Mercedes) = De La Rosa/(Clos, Alguersauri, GP2 Pay Driver)

Where is Car No.13 ? ;)

Btw, slightly out of topic, are the numbers are based on WDC or WCC ? I think its WDC - Ferrari would get 01 and 08/09 (Edit: Assuming Massa stays) and RB gets 02/03 - something like that?
Finishing second is being the first one of losers....

As Alonso is presently P1 in WDC Ferrari gety 01/02. Then Red Bull get 03/04 as they are P1 in WCC. However Red Bull would get first garrage in pits next year, and Ferrari would be second allong due to WCC standings.

Car 13 isnt included as 13 is an unlucky number for F1, as any time 13 has been put on a car in the past they have never finished a GP, and on 4 occasions there was 4 deaths.

Standings are all done on WCC standings, except when another teams driver wins the WDC then they get 01/02.

In 2010 Jenson moved from Brawn to McLaren and they got 01/02 on their cars, however were 3rd in pit lane, Mercedes were first that year and Red Bull second.

Alonso will take the WDC this year and Hamilton will challenge him next year as team mate in Ferrari
