If drag racing is going to happen on the main straight we will know if the track is built using a concrete slab under the asphalt. The slab has enough steel reinforcement to be built as one unit, without traverse joints for thermal expansion. The surface of the concrete is aligned with laser beams to provide a flat surface. The difference in height among any two patches of the track is less than the thickness of a piece of paper.

No concrete under the asphalt, and I'd be surprised to see drag racing on the main straight, as its not flat.

New RV info just posted on another board:

Went & had a meeting with CoTA yesterday to discuss the RV situation.......not good news for most of those looking forward to taking an RV to the track. Info should be going out to people today. But, here's the basics.

$15K/yr with a 2 or 3 yr agreement. There could be adjustments based on initial feedback, so still a slight glimmer of hope.

Still working on South Shuttle

Only 1 Trackside Hospitality Area available now & that is between 19 & 20. Now $2,000 for race weekend, but includes food & drink.

Includes 8 overnight passes for 4 race weekends. Ability to purchase 6 additional for F1 @ $200/ea & 12 for other races but price not determined yet. What was strange & there may be some confusion on this is the passes restrict you to the RV area. If you want to roam, you have to buy a regular ticket. Reminded me of the scene in 'The Jerk' when he was working the Midway & explaining what sections of prizes you win.....lol!

Area has restrooms, showers & laundry facilities. Also includes parking for 1 additional vehicle. Spaces are 25x45 & of course have full hookups. Move in as early as Tuesday & out Monday.

I would love to do it, but it just doesn't fit MY business model. I was mentally prepared to spend 15k for a 5 or 10 yr period to fit my plan, but not yearly.

No additional camping or RV parking available this year.

No RV parking? That per definition means there will be no US GP in Austin this year and sure as hell no nomex-nibbling!

RV Update:

$15K for year 1. Then add 2% per year for a 3-year contract, and 3% for a 2-year...and that's for F1 ONLY.
