Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

On the front wing of the F2012, the Gazzetta say then tunnel data did not correspond to the track!
About the DRS, Autosprint speaks of the possibility that Ferrari also carry a device like the Lotus, the DRS 'Pelican'!
not in SPA!

i'm going to predict that one of the cars that has this bluff area just below the sidepod intake will angle that surface backward to get better airflow along the sides of the sidepod and lower drag. yes, the electronic components now nicely packaged there will have to move.

Just below the intake at the side of the parting line?

Yes, looks like that could do with scooping out and feeding into the undercut a bit better just from the flowvis.
They should have made the bodywork out of aluminium, could have just hit it with the hammer there and tested it again

Step Backwards (2nd bold part):
Basically they say that the updated introduced since Silverstone dont work perfectly. In Gernany Alonso was all ging-ho about having the best car and now he has had to backtrack on that a little because McLaren was almost a second faster. They have brought things back to the factory to verify why they dont work. This year it is more importtant to take things to the track that you know are already going to work well...whcih they havent done.

Failure:
The front wings they have been testing suck. The wind tunnel data is not corresponding to on track data. Why did we beat the crap out of everyone in Gernamy but not in Hungary, asks Alonso.

The Cure:
This last week before the holiday is crucial. They need to fogure out why these wings are failing to correlate with the wind tunnel and get straight to developing the package for Spa and Monza where speed is the key...a place where the Ferrari has sucked. They have a few new aero parts for these races btu they arent going to be comparable to the ones McLaren will bring.
+1 thanks, being able to understand something certainly helps. I appreciate the translation.

since the team is saying that they still have correlation issues....could the new exhaust with he slightly different angle brought in Hungary have been a downgrade??? and if it was a downgrade was it the main reason or just one of the reasons why the car didn't perform here...

Looking at where they are pointing the UV lamp (in this and other photos) they seems more interested into the floor area near the sidepod

If you are talking about those articles, they specifically talk about correlation issues with the front wing. Thats why they have tried many versions but never raced any of them. The Autosprint articles address what they believe are three reasons for the crummy performance of the car in Hungary.

1. The front wing wind tunnel -vs- track correlation issues.
2. McLaren's big update
3. Tires. The fact that in changing conditions the Ferrari is strong, but in stable, warm temperatures, the car struggles.

no no...im not talking about the articles... im just saying that they know that there is a correlation problem with he fw...im just saying that there MIGHT be problems with the slightly different exhaust they brought to hungary...
