No crutches of DRS, no KERS, no push-to-pass, no junk tires. All-out racing. Almost came up with that win, but hard fought and well-earned by Ambrose.

Rest of the race was also quite good incidentally

yes awesome race, enjoyable to watch.
I fear in F1, they would penalize Ambose for "overtaking" while leaving the track.

it would be very cool to have that happen every race, but the race track was oiled down all over the track, still made it cool though

Could debate how much oil was down on the track at the end... but the whole event was full of good racing and overtakes.

I thoroughly enjoyed that race, including the wild last lap. This kind of stuff is so different than what goes on in Formula One it's like night and day. Strategy was being played out by everyone, complex and full of variables. Cars were bumping and banging, all over the track, and many times well over the boundaries of the defined track.

There were a lot of pissed drivers, including Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch. But I also saw a lot of genuine respect and camaraderie between many drivers, including team members. Sometimes we forget it's all about having fun.

There were a lot of banged up and broken cars, my heart dropped when Montoya's car broke it's front suspension. But all that oil on the track created a wild finish, something that was full of frantic excitement, and a wonderful end of the weekend for Marcus Ambrose.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

haha ..all drivers would get an instant reprimand ,docking of grid positions suspended bans and what have you for that in Formula1 ..
But man ..that was a race to the finish...formula 1 should and could take a leaf out of this ...beats tyre lottery a million times ,at least for me.

Pardon the comparison, but that looked like overweight "athletes" trying to compete in an obstacle course at speed. I was not impressed by the stumbling around anything that required a change of direction.

I suppose we can't all have it easy with lightweight cars with big tires and tons of downforce... some series actually require the drivers to have car control

There are plenty of series out there that don't have much DF and can still drive properly around a road coarse, but NASCAR just can't. But it was "entertaining", I won't deny that.

criticism accepted but bear in mind they were on worn out tires on an oiled down track. However when you think of how narrow the tire and heavy the car certainly some overweight ballerina comparison might be fair...3:40

That's the whole point. It takes some hard work to wrestle those heavy b@stards around.

Tires are 12" bulged out at the sidewall, tread is less than 11". And with driver and fuel the cars are 3650 lbs. So even worse than you think :)

By comparison, GT classes in Le Mans are 2500-2800 lbs? Think even V8 supercars are "only" around 3000 lbs.
