Great news, would be a logical step to do a year in WRC then jump into the new F1 turbo era.

Personally, I can't see him getting back into F1 unless he buys a seat in a HRT or something. It's too far great a risk.

He should be trying some F1 cars when he gets the chance.

I´d think Kubica has enough money to run a few year old car for testing purposes to bring him up to speed...no test opportunities with real teams these days -what a shame.....

Didn't Alonso say a few days ago that Robert have advanced talk with Ferrari, even if he didn't know if he could return?

Ferrari has had their eyes set on him since 2010.

This is one of the finest F1 drivers in modern time. Not many people know this.
He´s not just another driver.

He has been very highly rated by F1 insiders and spectators, mainly due to his consistence paired with some pure speed as well. I rembember TV commentator once said, that there happened something in that particular race that will be rembembered - Kubica made a mistake. Regardless of anyones opininon of his talent, that was a fact - he was more reliable than any of his cars, being still capable of some really good performances, both in qually - like Japan and Monaco 2011 and race - Australia, staying with 2011, comes to mind, with going from 9th to 2nd IIRC.

The real question is - what will be left of his remarkable speed/error ratio after such crash and general absence from motorsport. I think he is worth to gamble, but I really don't think Ferrari in particular is willing to take such risks. They're more known for hiring already proven drivers, than going into ifs and buts. And for now, Robert is unfortunatelly a huge unknown.
IMO of course ;)

Kubica is certainly a big risk for any team, but look at his competition at for the ferrari seat. They are obviously unhappy with massa and perez is a big risk as well, he's had some great races certainly but he's made some silly errors IIRC and i've heard a few people say he's not doing enough in that sauber.

marcush has got a great idea there, getting his own car would help his rehab (in the advanced stages) and prove to himself and possible employers that he is up to the challenge.

I wonder if he got into an F1 simulator until this moment, because I suppose that if he was able to test with a WRC car, he is able to do a sim run. But then again, I don't know if you can (as a former F1 driver) just ask a team if you can use theirs to test your capability to drive an F1 car.

During free practice the commentators on BBC said (paraphrased) that the latest they'd heard about Kubica was that whilst he was rumoured to be doing well and had a good shot at being able to return in the future, there was still a big question mark over whether he would be able to fit in the cockpit. Apparently he's currently unable to use his wrist at an angle that would fit in the current F1 cars.

Even if a team were able to adapt the car to him, this may also prove a problem with testing old cars as part of his recovery, in that they would need to be modified as well.

His latest elbow surgery had been performed due to the limited twisting movement, which problems were spotted while he was doing F1 sim (supposedly, as noone knows anything for sure in Robers case). There were no further problems with wrist reported. Implants he got during last surgery were supposed to prove it's effectiveness only after 2-3 months, after that its either hard fitness or further surgeries to bring back 100% mobility. Taking his latest WRC testing wifh Ford into considerations, I guess its already giving positive effects.
That's the latest info I could find

I know about that. Massa was pretty closed to lose his seat.

My point was that Ferrari has a track, several recent cars and seems to be still interested in Robert. I think he won't have to buy a car, Ferrari will give him a shoot at the exact instant he'll say he's ready.
