Yeah, there are still quite a long way. In the past we'd have 4-5, maybe 6 races, tops after the summer break, which makes it feel quite late in the season, but this year we have 9 races (45% of the season - nothing to shake a stick at)

What we want for the sake of an exciting championship is for Ham to win, ALO to retire, and WEB and VET to score 2nd and 3rd respectively :D

Yeah ,w ould love that. If any of Ham,Web,Vet,Rai win this race and Alonso suffers a DNF, I feel Alonso will crack. 11 races of hard hard work can pretty much be undone in 1 race!

The poor guy cant even rely on his team mate. Why have Ferrari not put someone else in that car yet!!!

forgot about RAI, what we now need is a HAM RAI one two, ALO DNF, and WEB/VET 3/4 haha.

If only you had swapped Ham and Web, I would have been in complete agreement  !

I put them in that order because WEB is 7 points ahead of HAM, so for the sake of a closer championship, HAM needs to finish ahead of him this weekend

Very true. All in all, I hope Web,Ham,Vet, and Rai can build their scores towards Alo. All the best respect for Alonso's work so far, but I want it down to the wire like 2010 and 2008.

It is truly just that much more aching to wait the last few days before the FP1 than the entire summer break!

I doubt it's really 100% reliable - but it's still fun to play with before every race anyway: http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/race-strategy-calculator/

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

The perfect podium for me could be Schumacher/Raikkonen/Hamilton. These guys have shown what they can do in this track, and Schumi deserves a little bit of luck, a victory for him would be something very special.

And a DNF for Alonso and Vettel should be great for the championship. :D

So... forecast is for dry but cool now. Assuming the forecast stays the same (big assumption at spa), I can't see anyone other than Hamilton winning this one. Of course this also makes the assumption that all teams upgrades are roughly equal etc.

Qualy:
1. HAM
2. BUT (+0.5)
3. ALO (+0.1)

Race:
1. HAM
2. ALO
3. WEB

0.5 second thats a bit optimistic, lots of car updates on different cars , just because McLaren were fast last race does not mean they will blitz the pack by 0.5 formula one changes all the time

Agreed, it's a bit of a stab in the dark... But, Lotus will not perform well unless they have some *major* changes to their car. McLaren seem to have got the bit between their teeth in terms of understanding their car and it's tyre usage... The only dark horse I can really see is ferrari with their pretty enormous update pile.
