Actually the "cleaner" side is the 2-4-6 slots. Pole is located on the inside of La Source. It's not on the outside as per usual, so that people can defend off the line better.

Maldonado will be starting next to Hamilton it seems. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid...

Thanks Ray I didn't realize that. But the outside is the preferred line going into Eau Rouge No? :?

Only if you can turn in.

Thanks 1,3,5 are actually closer and Eau Rouge is not a problem from the inside off the start. :P

Mate - are you sure you have your bearings straight? The start line is into La Source, then you navigate the La Source hairpin before the entry to Eau Rouge becomes a factor. Generally you take the outside (far left) on entry into La Source, and exit on the far left (outside) of it. But in Spa, because La Source is so tight, if P1 was on the outside of La Source, P2 just needs basically an equal exit to force the poleman wide and take the lead.

I've got them straight now, I was just looking at the circuit. Don't mind me it's 10:00am over here and I've been awake too long (all night) better get some shut eye ;)

I think La Source and the Bus Stop chicane are where the time differences are, and perhaps the Fagnes chicanes. I wonder if the cars will have similar pace to qualifying without DRS

can anyone explain how LH could suddenly lost it all to his team mate at SPA? Could this be Mclaren way of bringing LH back down to earth in the contract/business negotiation?

No penalty for Raikkonen.

"Although car #9 left the track at Turns 3 and 4 (not only on this lap but also on another lap in Q3) a detailed examination of telemetry and sector times clearly indicate there was no advantage gained because the exit speed was shown to be slower than on other laps where the car did not leave the track."
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Just couldn't get the set-up right. They took a gamble changing back to the old-spec rear wing on the off chance LH could get better balance/handling and thus a better quali time. Hopefully Lewis can get past Pastor cleanly during the first lap and let good tire strategy/management advance him up the field. Talk of the team trying to bring LH "back down to earth" is silly. :)

What Jenson has achieved here reminds me a lot Nico´s pole in China. He simply found the perfect set-up with an unbeatable balance between speed, traction and downforce. Dont ask how, even Jenson doesnt know the answer, he simply found it and did the perfect lap. Congratulations Jenson!

The result for tomorrow:

1. Kimi
2. Jenson
3. Perez
