What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

COTA says 3 Del Valle Job Fairs were poorly attended. Community says "Job Fairs? What Job Fairs?" Nobody knew.

No list of Prohibited Items for at least one more month.

$200 for 3 day parking #-o

That is not OK. Wonder if you can park your car for less then that?
Or maybe just take the bus to the circuit.

We are staying in a Hotel in New Braunfels. Idea was to go by car but for $200 I think I have to look for other solution.

That's a bit high. I used to park for $10 at Indy.

to our resident track experts - would you say turn 15 or turn 15 corner would be a better grandstand? Can you see turns 3 / 4 / 5 from the corner grandstand or does the elevation get in the way? Thanks!

From ground level, you can't see too much of 3,4,5 from there. Maybe little glimpses as cars flash by narrow gaps, but that would be about it. From up high in the bleachers? Maybe, but there's no way to know for sure until we get up there.

WHere? At a friends house?
It costs me more that that to park to go to the darn fair.

Interesting to see Governor Rick Perry was in attendance.

Brundle interviewed him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udm8mTaxGwI on Sky during the grid walk.

Buxton interviewed him on Speed...

I would say he has been well coached.

New Braunfels is one of my favorite towns. Be sure to try a German restaurant while you are there.

Will do,thanks.Love German food.
Living in Holland I go at least 3 times a year to Germany (Nordschleife :P )

But about parking. What you guys think is best to do.Drive from New Braunfels and try to park the car around the track (not on a $200 parking place) or would this be impossible?

Or should we drive to Austin and take the bus to the track?

COTA is saying they will not allow walk-up admission to the circuit, even with a ticket. There are a couple of places saying they have agreements with COTA to allow access for people from those properties, but nobody will provide anything written as verification. So that's a little risky, imho. I wish I had better news. I live in Austin and have tickets but still don't know what is the best way to go on race week.
