That is good welding.. what is wrong with it?
Its not that good, you can see where the torch has remained in one place for slightly too long and rippled the whole piece.

I think you can get away with a sub standard build quality if you've got a good design and unfortunately HRT are lacking that. I would be interested to know who's responsible for this year's car development. This years car seems to be the worst of all their previous efforts and I include the unfinished Dallara F110.

They're closer to the field, percentage wise, than they have been. The F112 is an incredible high performance racer if you compare it to anything other than the top F1 teams.. Compared to the Dallara F110, it's performance and build quality are much improved. HRT is slowly becoming a legitimate F1 team.

No they're not. I keep on re-iterating that if you compensate for the lack of active EBD's on the front running cars and the fact that the tyres are one compound softer than last year (apart from the supersoft) . They've made zero progress. What they've done is set the car to qualify within the 107% margin but that means a considerable compromise within the race.

Wouldnt it be great if they suddenly found themselves in the midfield for 1 race. Some how unlocking 2 seconds from within the F112. Well, I can dream

I think HRT have done a good job considering all the turmoil and the lack of resources in the team. Marussia have left them behind now, but it's not like they're seconds off the pace of their immediate competitors. I was expecting worse before the season. Keeping this in mind i don't understand all the criticism they get, because IMO they don't deserve it.

I'm giving HRT are hard time because they've been so disappointing. I appreciate that they wanted to put the facilities under one roof but it's as though Ruiz de Marcos and Perez Sala fail to appreciate the importance of having quality desigb engineers if you're operating outside a technology hub.
In Monza HRT finished over 40s behind the leading Marussia that's 2 pitstops in hand. Marussia are also operating to a cost cap that equates to around €8 million more than HRT but they're not using more advanced or better technology.

HRT are bringing Major upgrades to Singapore. Laptime may drop by as much as a second on this track.

If I´m not mistaken ,what you see is the backside of the weld ,and considering that it is at least a full penetrating weld and
ok technically.
From aestetics side you are completely right -it would not have been a big job to actually form a rounded edge and finish the job of with a proper buttweld on the sides .That would have made a nice piece of sheetmetalwork pleasing the eye .
So if you are nitpicky ,I agree it looks too rough for my taste . I could perform that job with a 500€ cheapy TIG welder a fegw sheetmetal hammers ,a leather shotbag , a bandsaw and a file.....and a days work...maybe they just have too many other urgent issues to invest in looks....

Karthikeyan said that they have a new floor. Is that the only upgrade? If they get more rear downforce, would they need a new FW to balance the car or they won't need it and just add more degrees to the FW?

Maybe on Antena3 Toni Cuquerella will show us the new stuff they are using in the car, just as he did with the Barcelona upgrade. I will try to get some images if they show something

Autosport are reporting that the' Major aero upgrade' is a new floor. The problem for HRT is that their immediate competitors are all running performance differentiators eg, multi element front wings, lighter suspension components, Coanda exhaust and KERS.
The cheapest way to improve the rear end grip is with the Coanda/ Mass flow concept.

Has anyone found any pictures of the new floor or any of the other rumoured upgrades that are meant to be appearing?

The 'louvres' in the rear wing, looks like they just sent someone down to the local DIY shop for one of these: Image

Little confused by the radiator...they have covered it and put the car number on it...why?
