Most notable was that Massa (on ss) BARELY beat Hamilton previous best, which was on softs. Even with the mistake Hamilton took 0.9 out of it. Even Alonso can't make that up. With Red Bull looking to match the pace of McLaren, I think Alonso is going to loose alot of his advantage in the WDC.

U were saying?
you beat me too it :p. But Hamilton still can go faster.

That's true. I will be quite surprised if it's not him or Vettel on pole.

Pole is a massive advantage here. The poleman has always gone on to win, except for 2008, but Massa was looking every bit the racewinner until that safety car, and that fuel rig, happened.

So I spent the day in the Lotus garage thanks to my buddy, who is a Lotus team Singapore racer and he asked me along. Last time he asked me along, Lotus was green! Lol. Quite a good experience. You get to hear a lot more radio chatter than the normal broadcasts, and you get to see a lot more telemetry on screen.

Unfortunately I can't post pics, because they were (understandably) very camera shy...

Rear tyre deg is going to be a biggie here it seems.

I recorded much of the helmet cam sky had on Hamilton and he was raping his rears under traction time after time.

Lots of sliding and auto correction on the softs during the low fuel runs, although he seemed to be much more conservative during the longer run on the super softs.

Could be another Valencia situation.

Any comparisons available of the teams' long runs? Can't seem to find a site were all the lap times are accessible.

In what way? I do hope it's not a weekend where Alonso wins all while his competition fall by the wayside again

Hamilton's long run was promising, so Ithink tyre management won't be a problem for him. The pace on S was excellent, on SS not bad.

Were they testing the new upgrades or they actually lack the pace that much?

These bubble gum pirellis can put all that out the window.

Mclaren 1-2 if both drivers can better string their laps together it seems.
