Congratulations to Allessandro, his second WTCC victory and major event victory since loosing both legs in a freak accident at the Eurospeedway in Germany in a round of the 2001 CARTchampionship.
He gained the lead coming into the first corner of the circuit at Istanbul using the BMWs superior traction from 2nd place to beat Ricard Rydell off the line. He gradually increased his lead over the 10lap race and a well deserved victory was sealed.
I think the hardest part for him was probably getting onto the high top step of the podium with his stiff 'racing' legs.
Congratulations Allessandro, no doubt spurred on by the reacent recovery of good friend Christiano Da Matta.
