Re: Schumacher Retires (again)

I just feel so heartbroken about this news today - torn apart!

I will cherish every lap that he is driving that car and will set my alarm for 2 and 6 tomorrow, even though i am working at 8, just so that i miss zero of his time on track.

It is weird when the day comes that you have to say goodbye to the last thread of what belongs to your childhood forever. I am 28 married with three children and I have become very very passionate about Michael. It is hurting for now that this is it. In 1992 I sat as an 8 year old boy and looked at my dad and said ' dad I like him' and my dad said 'yes son he is a very special driver'. From then he was my idol and still is now, and always always always will be......

Of course now that he is gone for good, I WILL NEVER have the drive to watch formula one again, except possibly for a race highlight or to check results. Maybe I will be treated to a Schumacher child on the grid one day - who knows. I will enjoy watching ROC for instance however.

Can anyone imagine a movie being made about Michael in the future / near future?

And do we expect a stagnant website or a website removal or does this still just get updated with things such as MSC helps safety etc etc?

I got a little teary eyed at his speech at the end when he talked about his family, even he got a little choked up about it, man i have lived with him in F1 my whole life i can remember the 2004 Australian grand prix my dad asked me who i supported i said him, it won't be the same without his presence so i too shall cherish these last few races i get the privilege to see my childhood hero race in :(
And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

It is sad when I heard this news. All in all, he has been the reason why I first started watching F1. AND, he is the last familiar face in F1 from the first day when I watch F1.

His first career achievement is in no doubt the most successful of any F1 driver. I am so blessed that I was able to witness a real legend in my lifetime.

His second F1 career is one of real courage. Every news and commentators out there criticize him but he never gave up. That is a mark of a true champion. He is a true hero IMO. He never stopped improving on his comeback and this year, it is clear that he is ahead of Rosberg (driver half his age). If Rosberg is the same age as Michael, Mercedes would easily have gotten rid of Rosberg first. It was only the team that let him down and the ridiculously harsh penalties that held him back.

Thank you Michael for all the years of great F1 racing! You're always THE BEST!

am i the only one that feel he was really unhappy/angry about the situation.
last time his announcement was from heart, however today was reading ... like reading a draft without any feeling, even broken sentences
at last he said "will concentrate on the last sort of races"...

but anyway, thanks schummy for all these years of racing!

This was not from his heart!

The speech was constructed under control of the "Board" to save Mercedes name. Look at Norbert and Ross. They are under pressure. One thing is for sure, i will NEVER buy a Mercedes...

Shame he can't expect this kind of a send-off from this team:

This team & crew genuinely loved him and did their darndest best every race to give him a fighting chance at victory.

I don't he will be holding his breath on his last lap. Its more a case of relief for him.

I too got the feeling that he was just reading from the hymn sheet and tried to amuse himself with it.

What a difference between the speeches of 2006 and 2012. As you have correctly tagged 6 years ago his speech was emotional, he felt clearly supported by the team, now its another thing, and Haugh saying that Michael is his friend, sometimes its bettet not to have friends. :?

Like the saying we have here: " God, protect me from my friends, I'll take care of my enemies myself." :)

i felt the same way, he's never needed a note to speak, his expression said it all, if the team don't support u, then there's no point, only supported merc because of michael, i hope michael doesn't stay on board with merc, and that in 2013 onwards failure! what a joke as a team, i'm going to enjoy these last 6 races with a legend who's rep is not tarnished, just an enjoyment for him and us to see him race in f1

Maybe we see him poitch up at the RedBULL Air races in a Zivko Edge 540 V3, Extreme Air XA 41, Extreme Composites MSX-R or Petr Besenyei's Corvus Racer 540 taking on the like of Arch and Bonhomme :D

Can only dream

Feels sad. I dont want to give up on F1 again. Only hope is Lewis breaking his leg or something. I couldnt care less even if he died tomorrow if that meant Michael coming back next year.

MSC going out is the worst possible nightmare and add to that a guy as annoying as Hamilton replacing him is even more horrific. Next season will be a nightmare for me.
