be fair.... Michael choose his way (maybe to soon) but Lewis is a great driver who can win another championship (i hope not with Mercedes)

I prefer Mike above Ham for the Merc drive , but wont wish something like that on a talent like Ham, or anyone for that matter.

Pirelli says that Michael would be very wellcome as a tyre tester, this is not enough for a legend like Michael, but hey, perhaps he can learn a lot about tyres and return in 2014 smashing the field.

I'd normally delete a post that wishes injury for another diver, this is only a sport. In fact I can't imagine any scenario that'd merit that sort of comment. However, other members have made eloquent replies so I'll leave the posts as they are.

All the drivers in F1 have more talent than any of us can dream of, so please show them some respect.

Let's keep things in perspective please. Reflect on Schumacher's unique career, some unique moments in F1 history (good and bad) and be constructive, we're all here to learn.

Thankfully he will not do anything like DTM -he already stated he has no talent or ambition for tintops..
I heard he wants to look into aerobatics ....uuuuh if i were Corinna ..I´d be already nervous...considering his moto antics..

Maybe we see him poitch up at the RedBULL Air races in a Zivko Edge 540 V3, Extreme Air XA 41, Extreme Composites MSX-R or Petr Besenyei's Corvus Racer 540 taking on the like of Arch and Bonhomme

he certainly can afford a decent machine ...the question really is what´s needed from a pilot and has schumacher what it takes? this is a sport where you can afford bigger mistakes or errors ..well it may all be a bit farfetched.

I knew this thread was going to be filled with subjective Schumi-fanboyism, but some things are just too hilarious to read.

Schumacher made the absolute right decision to retire. Anyone with a objective view on the sport, on Mercedes and on Schumacher will agree on that. His comeback has been anything but a success and to be honest, it's a sad but fair ending to his career. He took a big gamble when he returned to F1, and he's lost...

All the negative comments towards Hamilton for the Schumacher-retirement, is just the thing that makes me hate so many of the Schumi-fanboys. Schumacher decided for himself that he was going to retire. Mercedes gave him every opportunity to continue, but he just didn't make a decision, untill Mercedes just HAD to ensure they had a solid line-up for 2013.

Where exactly was Schumacher out of his depth?
He is not fault free these days but as I rmemeber he never was .
He is at least on equal terms qualyfying wise with Rosberg -until this season the Qualy pace was indicative for everyone that he had lost it...think about it..

To me Schumacher hesitated simply because he did not want to commit for more than one year as he simply did not know how long his motivation would be sustainable.
He had to realise early on this season it will not work out for him 2012 with all those dnfs and then MGPs competitiveness stalling again ....back then he always maintained he did not want to stand in the ways of the team .Sure hiring Hamilton is a big opportunity for MGP .

but I think he would have loved to do one more season.Whatever it was what made him not considering to go elsewhere we have to accept.
It´s not like I wish Hamilton will face the same or comparable dramas with his new team .But from what we have learned to expect from mgp the future is not as bright as some people are already announcing.

They have used Schumi? I'd rather think it is the other way around.

Honestly, he just drove 3 years because of the fun of it, not because of competition. He sat in the driver seat for 3 years and achieved nothing, the only reason he made it 3 seasons is because of his name. He shouldnt have gotten the seat in the first place, a place that could have been filled by a youngster, or another upcoming driver. But they give it to Schumacher so he could have 3 years of fun.

As much of a legend he is, I think it is a good thing he leaves.

people do things well they like to do,never heard of that? Why should Schumacher come back ,if not for the fun? He has bagged some titles if i´m correct and some of his records will stand for a while methinks.
He was not outclassed by the other drivers ,admittedly he could not match the standards he has set in his first career that´s the one Underachievement.
Anyone can talk down other peoples achievements but comparing his speed and competitiveness with other drivers in their last season of Formula 1 competition he looks damn competitive.
And WHO else of recent F1 drivers retired from the sport still having alternatives to negotiate with competitive teams in F1?

You may ask Mr$Villeneuve ,Coulthard ,Fisichella,Barrichello,Danner,Surer ,Brundle, ... and a few others how and why they left formula 1...
