How do we know McLaren wouldn't be perfectly happy to bring in a 100% identifiable number 2 driver, in the same way that Hamilton could never go to Ferrari/Red Bull due to them dedicating almost everything to one driver.

The top teams don't actually seem to like having two "dominant" drivers in their camp it seems.

Could be, with Hamilton I dont think the door is shut on him at Ferrari and Red Bull because he is fast. The door is shut on him because he is not a team builder or much of a team player in my view. He's the kind of guy that is lethal, almost unbeatable if he is in the right frame of mind in a championship winning car, however put him in a situation where the car isnt capable and he starts to act childish and do stupid things, things that the top team dont want to have to deal with. He needs babysitting and top teams like Ferrari and red bull want someone like a Fernando Alonso who keeps his head down and drags the car places it shouldnt be, rather than someone who will post the team's data on twitter.

I guess you could say that for a driver to be able to drive around inadequacies, he has to be aware of their existence in order to compensate for them.

Oh I completely agree. The difference is someone like Button would be mindful of them and will consciously note them - and I feel someone like Lewis will know them subconsciously, in an almost reflex fashion.

I have always held the view that if a driver is so reflexy that they just adjust and adapt for deficiencies on the fly, they probably won't be as good a development driver. For a development driver to be good - they need to give good feedback. And to give that good feedback they need to be lacking something. Something has to give.

It was actually quite avoidable.

Had Fernando not been trying to squeeze Kimi off the track (YOU HAVE TO LEAVE-A THE SPACE) and breaking the rules, that space that Button was driving into wouldn't actually have been there, nor would the slightest jink end up in him basically causing a race ending collision.

Kimi never had to leave the track before Button moved, which means Alonso did it by the book. You can easily say that Kimi could have backed off for a moment (just to let the throttle for an eye-blink) and head for Alonso's tail, that way he wouldn't have endangered himself in the first place. It could have been avoided in all kinds of ways, for start - that there was no race at all!

Perez was drivin very fast sectors when Button comes to pit. But then they react and Perez was made to pit too....

And as a Macca fan this race was quiet frustrating. Hope they can build a good car for next year.

0:14 to 0:15 - Button crossing a 1/3 of a track width, Alonso moving slightly to the right out of precaution, clipping Kimi's wing. Unavoidable racing incident... Button could not have known the position of these two (otherwise i doubt he would have gone so quickly to the left), Alonso was sandwiched between them, Kimi was sandwiched between Alonso and grass... I'm glad he wasn't taken out as well.

at no point Fred tried to run Kimi off track!!! He left him exactly 1 car space, maybe a bit more...... Just enough to prevent him from overtaking. The problem was that Fred overreacted to Button's move by some 5cm, Kimi was still there and Fred got puncture.... Pure racing incident....

Well, my expectation for this race partially turned into realty. I was rooting for an Alonso DNF and Raikonnen win... Half of that happen. So now Alonso close to be equal with others at luck department. He needs one more DNF though to reach real equality

Also, my psychic powers made me wrote here that "whoever wins Singapore will win the championship" before singapore and I may be right about that, too

All in All Great Job by Vettel perfect weekend , he also confirms that this track suits his driving style

Best Drive: Vettel without doubt..Reminds me of Button in Spa and Hamilton in Monza..Never annoyed by anyone it's between him , his machine and the track champion drive .
So Good to see Massa on the podium ! maybe this will be the 2008's vice champion Reborn !

a good example of how someone can get his head in the right frame of mind.
Kamui really wanted needed and lived for that podium...he did all that was necessary and most importantly kept his calm when things could have easily slipped away from him..
He could have tried too hard ...aiming too high...but that was really a mature ,gutsy drive under the highest possible pressure .You just have to love the guy and he earned a lot of respect -deserves to keep his seat .
Mind you he certainly had no easy time watching perez who seemed to be able to pull those maginficent drives from the car
and for him it always went suboptimum....i´m sure he will bag a lot more points in the coming races.well deserved .
