Could somebody tell me how to get the exhausts in the right place i've moved the rotated them but its not working i can't get them symmetrical and i'm getting pretty frustrated ](*,)
And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.

i don't get what you mean, are you just making one side of your car, then you can just mirror when done?

Im with astra, you shouldnt be trying to get symmetry as you should only work on one half and mirror.

I'm in charge of WigglesGP and anyone thinking they have a bad car out there should relax. You should see mine! Its almost done but as I don't have any CFD equipment and i'm not very good at sketchup i'm not expecting much. I'm struggling to curve some objects without the arc tool. Good luck everyone. Also do we colour the cars before we send them in or leave that until later?

Thanks, which pics have you seen? the ones on my wordpress site?
Car for KVRC is a nice evolution of previous cars.

As for you struggling with curves, have you downloaded any plugins for Sketchup?
I recommend signing up to Sketchucation and checking out this thread - http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtop ... aadd0999ef
Bezier curves is a good plugin for curves.

Thanks :). By the way, the way your sidepod is designed looks very complicated. I think I have an ok front and rear wing but my sidepods, airbox and nosecone areas are the boxy bits, and no I haven't downloaded any add-ons yet.

Just a question are F ducts going to make a difference??

I don't think so yet. Maybe eventually but i'm not sure how you would achieve it but it would be interesting to see.

Same as Mercedes do with pipes going down to the Front wing It would be good if it was possible to simulate that

No, F-ducts etc won't make a different as its classed as internal cfd

for those who haven't read
How much is the challenge?
Free - unless you want to get a CFD license for personal use which you can contact Hibou Scientific Software about.

Can we put our cars in a different orientation to the supplied regulations/ tub?
No, cars must all be submitted in this orientation

Can teams change the wheelbase from the one supplied?
No

Can teams change the chassis height?
Yes - the top of the chassis can be between 550mm and 625mm from the reference plane.

Can we use a different gearbox and suspension?
No - this would give unfair advantages

Do we simulate exhausts? (Exhaust Blown Diffuser effects)
No - we are working on this but for now we are working with basic aerodynamics

Is my car legal?
Send us it and we will find out for you if you are unsure, we are working on a self assessment method for those involved with the challenge to be sure before sending the car for simulation.

Are you going to simulate cooling systems/ internal aerodynamics?
Due to the varying abilities of modelers who are involved with the KVRC, we believe it is best that these intakes/ outlets are blanked off for the reason that if 1 face is infinitely thin, when trying to simulate a geometry in CFD, the CFD can conflict with the infinitely thin face. In other words, if internal aerodynamics are not done properly the car wont work in CFD. So for this reason we will not simulate internal aerodynamics.

Can we choose drivers?
No, it is impossible to simulate a specific driver within a race situation with other drivers. This is an Aerodynamic challenge not a Management game.
