I think the general feeling is that Alonso has driven a superb championship with a car has been cents behind on pace quali and race.

Normally starting on 5th and finishing on podium. So he always fights from adversity to keep up there and with options.
The only two times didn't score was pushed away.
Vettel just wins when the car is fast and he starts normally from the front, there are exceptions.
The car was struggeling at mid season and his actittude was really negative. Still a great driver. Dough!!!

Today was another example of the Grandour Alonso driving skills. 5th again, overcoming all the adversities, taking risks to finish second and minimized damage of still an inferior car. Only mistake he did was when he was going to overlap a Virgin lol

On paddock hearts the feeling is that Wordchampionship would be fair if it was won by Alonso. But most feel sorry he doesn't have the car.

I would not be surprised to see the Team Prinicpals vote Alonso as the driver of the season (as was the case in 2010).

Think it was a supreme example of 'grandour' driving skills from Alonso, Button and Hamilton! Particularly through those first 5 corners!

Interesting eh? He seems to talk to lewis every now and again, do wonder if Lewis tipped him off? We all know Lewis and Button dont really like each other.

Here is the interview, nothing at all about that comments, pure speculation. Sorry is in Spanish. You can translate on Google

by the way, there are rumors that Alonso and Massa have different cars, the difference is floor of the car... just a rumor. And I do not think that makes a difference more than 0.1 per second... so in race pace 6-10 seconds most... There are 34 right now...
Massa was low of fuel and probably switched to a "low fuel" engine map

Finally someone pointing out how difficult was that pass. It was a real great joy to see those worldchampionships pass each other at least 2 times on 5 turns :D

Actually I had a funny feling that Lewis was reluctant to close in on Alonso because Lewis would prefer alonso to win the Wdc instead of vettel. Once alonso overtook webber you could immediately see Lewis picking up the pace.

Im not sure how valid that argument is, however its no secret Lewis and Alonso have little respect for Vettel, they think he is all car and neither one of them would flinch at the chance to go 1 on 1 with him in equal cars. Not saying thats right or wrong, but Alonso made it crystal clear in an interview which is available on youtube that Seb isn't on Hamilton's level and hamilton has said the same thing in reverse, hamilton also said he hopes Alonso wins the title.

Has been in the last few years though hasn't it? The team principal vote has generally favored the runner up in recent years.

I think last year they voted for Vettel... apparently today was Alonso 30th Podium for Ferrari, since 2010 apparently only Vettel has scored more, 34 podiums......now consider what kind of car advantage Seb has had from 2010- today. Stats dont alway stell the full story, but I think 30 podiums for Alonso considering the machinery he has had speaks volumes.

yes, you are right, he-massa- did good job too... keeping Kimi behind, thanks to lotus' lack of straight line speed

where is the value in this speculative, highly subjective comparison between the drivers?

SV is doing exactly what is expected of him, not taking unnecessary risks, delivering points when the car was sub par, and winning when the car becomes really good, not doing anything spectacular (which is why people dislike him), but is exactly what a team would want behind a steering wheel of their creation, and this consistency works both ways, as we can see in the drivers championship points table

I'm not a fan of SV, quite the opposite, but you have to give some credit to him, he isn't Ayrton Senna or even MS, but he is doing his job, and doing it a typical German fashion :)

anyway people and media are giving waaaay too much credit to the drivers championship btw, should be the other way around IMHO

Congratulations to S Vettel, 2012 WDC.

Condolences to F Alonso, throwing away the best years of his career with a team incapable of giving him the car he deserves.
