Red Bull RB8 Renault

When did they ditch the tunnel to the SMH? Haven't been following as much as I'd like.

The last big revision to the bodywork was Korea, where they shrunk the tunnels. Perhaps that update? Or Singapore?

Yeah I saw they shrunk the tunnels but have any pictures of the floor shown one of the tunnels has been changed to not feed the SMH?

They detached the tunnels at Hockenhiem.

So Mark Webber's car is now sparking whenever the DRS is activated, like Vettel's car was last weekend. Must be the same screw that is getting caught underneath :P Either that or Red Bull were lying last weekend as to what the issue was.

I think RB8's latest floor is illegal. it still shows sparkles like it did in india. FIA should scrutinize this car.

Simple explanation! The tea tray is run as low as possible. When DRS is activated, the car is faster, therefore more downforce transferred to the front wing (less to the rear), so car will naturally touch the ground. Ride height will be adjusted to prevent it touching.

As for India. As Seb was not using DRS, as he was leading, there was clearly a problem, which cleared itself up when the bolt dislodged or wore away.

Still, it's funny (not) how the Red Bull detractors automatically say the car is illegal, despite the fact that other cars could also be seen sparking at times.

They are also blowing air through that opening that can be seen below the beam wing?

Actually he was!
Sebastian Vettel wrote:I noticed the problem. I think it was when I got the DRS of a backmarker, from Timo (Glock) actually, pretty close to the end of the race and obviously when you open DRS, you go much quicker down the straight and I saw some sparks. I think you've seen a couple of cars throwing out some sparks out of the back of the car this weekend. I don't think it was really a problem. I didn't feel anything regarding the balance (of the car). All the other laps it was no problem, but I saw it in the mirror, I saw Timo backing off and I think he was a bit afraid at the time. We obviously need to analyse what was the problem, but it didn't cost us anything or slow us down.

Maybe they are trying to find out the optimal ride height?
After all this is practice session

Potentially. Ideally you'd want minimal clearance for the plank, but not have to change it between quali and the race - ie it has to be optimised based on DRS-open, full-fuel condition.

The car was sparking for a lap or two, outside any DRS zone! And, with nobody in front of him.
