"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

maybe fuel pumps were sucking air because there was not enough fuel into the tank... In this case Vettel should definitely be DSQ (F1 fuel pumps still work below 0.5kg of fuel because of the tank design)

Anyway, can we speculate about Vettel race if he start 24th to keep up waiting for the final decision?
First thing should be new gearbox as it will be a "free" change. Then given his horrible top speed, I'm not sure he can make his way into the traffic. Maybe the point of 10th place could be earned, making Lewis officially out of race for the title.

Why not fitting a ninth engine also? Give him every advantage he can get from that starting place.
Luckily for him Ferrari isn't fast enough at AD; if Alonso finishes 4th Vettel is still ahead by 1 point.

...Now to think of it: how much of a disadvantage is it to start from the pitlane versus the last place on the grid? If it isn't a big one they could change the setup too, making it more fitting for the race.

You realise there is somebody from Red Bull under those covers disconnecting marks Kerrs or reprogramming his start sequence so Vettel can pass him in turn 1.

that's for sure :)

If Vettel starts from 3rd he will pass him on the first corner.

I am quite sure that If were talking about a Force India or aToro Rosso they would be at the 24th position 2 hours ago.
