So it´s confirmed now?

Because what i read was that Hembrey simply said he would give Kubica the opportunity to do tests for them assuming he can actually drive an F1 car.

Quick update on Robert's recovery - He drove Renault Clio S1600 at Ronde dell`alta Val Tidone 2 weeks ago, starting with number 0, hence not being classified . But unofficially - he was by far the fastest driver of the event. He was constantly on the limit, even nearly colided with a barrier on one corner.
He also commented on the rumors around him. He confirmed that he is planning to participate in a championship next year, but he did not specify what series would it be. He also denied that he ever said that he's planning a F1 comeback specifically at 2014, so his plans regarding F1 are still unknown.

Mystery still surrounds Kubica and just what the extent of his injuries are. However, given the level of talent currently entering Formula 1 from lower formulas I think opportunities could still exist for him two or even three years from now.

Robert Kubica on a comeback and entered for two rallies with Citroën

Poland's Robert Kubica, whose Formula One career was put on hold after a near-fatal rally accident, will drive a Citroën rally car in two events in France and Italy during November.

Citroën said the former BMW-Sauber and Renault F1 driver would drive a C4 WRC car, similar to one that took Sébastien Loeb to many of his nine world titles, in the Rally di Como from 15-17 November and the Rallye du Var in France the following weekend.

Kubica, 27, has not driven a Formula One car since a rally accident in February 2011 left him with severe arm and leg injuries. However he won two minor rallies in Italy in September and has competed in the Rally du Var twice previously.

"I can't wait to drive a car that is quick and has been as successful as the C4 WRC," the Pole said. "Rallying is one of my favourite forms of motor sport."

Kubica, a good friend of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, said in September he is still hoping to return to Formula One and will not give up, even if he might never be at the same physical level as before.

I dont think Robert will be back in F1 or any Single Seaters guys.

Look at the interview, as well as his right arm/hand...in the vid.

Almost looks like its lame and or is like a plastic hand

Too much to do on an F1 steering wheel and in the car not to have 2 arms that are 100%

That´s what I´m thinking ever since I saw his right arm.

no way. just imagine hairpins like in monte carlo. should he do that with one arm? and, his right arm would be "in the way".

sad but true

He says in that interview that he has tested "high performance cars ... with roofs" on circuits but "because of the limitation of my arm I can't driver single seat cars."

I reckon that a steering system could be designed that would give him adequate control of an F1 car - whether the FIA would change the rules and whether a team would go to such trouble for Kubica is an entirely different story.

I always thought it was telling that he made his return to Motorsport in rallies rather than sports car racing. Perhaps rallying is less stressful on his hand (lighter steering...?) but I always thought he would be targeting a WRC career as I don't think he will return to F1.

It has been said that he's still going to have some operation(s) on his arm. I don't know, I am not a doctor (well, actually I am but not the medicine one ;) ) but maybe they'll extend the mobility of the elbow which seems to be the main obstacle now.
One thing is sure - wherever he will end up he's going to be quick.

I think the major problem for him is that he wont be able to get in and out of a single seater.

Many sportscars have steering wheel controls more or less as complex as F1. The strength is not so much the problem as the mobility. GT racing is probably the limit for Robert at the moment, and even those have more or less switched to paddle shifting and have lots of dials and buttons to play with.
