Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Those of you who searched unsuccessfully for major changes? There weren't any. Eighth qualifier in the most important race of the year. Anything can happen on race day, but can't see Alonso winning this one on merit. Podium would be a great achievement.

Yep, they just seem to be cycling the same parts over and over again.

Hey, if you can't get what you need out of your wind tunnel, there's no shame in adopting a trial-and-error approach.

IIRC, Massa and Alonso are running slightly different floors/diffuser. BBC said the same thing but can't find any pics.

Look at the 8th post on the previous page. There are two pictures of the different diffusers/gurney flaps.

twitter @andrewbenson (I know all in this forum like Benson):
BTW, Gary Anderson thinks new Ferrari diffuser may explain @alo_oficial qual. Says may worsen airflow reattachment when DRS closes problem

I'm not an aero-expert but I don't think that is true. This would mean that in every slow corner where the ride high is higher the diffuser stalls. And it will take longer tor reattach after the corner. I think the guys at Ferrari have not developed a diffuser like this.

Somebody please tell me the Sao Paulo circuit is better suited to the car and it won't be a second off the pace each lap. :3

Then the only hope is alternators or rainfall.

1 second off pace is not that bad. In Q3 we had a gap from 2sec from 1st to last. Unbelievable how strong RB is

In the dry - I always thought Austin would be the better Ferrari circuit. Fast sweepers etc have been the Ferrari strength. Traction, slow corners - have generally, in my view, been their bane since Singapore/Hungary.

Humm it's something of a power track, heating up the tires probably won't be so difficult.

But the championship hangs on a Vettel misfortune, no doubt.

there is a rain forecast for Brazil!
can Ferrari switch to Silverstone spec car if they see it's going to rain?
i ask because that car heated the tires immediately while this one can't do it at all?
