2013 pecking order speculation

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

1. iRB9 (Infinity Red Bull!) ---> Combination of refined exhausts, advanced DRD, and stable regs will push Vettel to dominance in 2013
2. E21 --> Lotus DRD, real investment in exhaust, Kimi
3. F2013 --> Alonso and Massa will put it about equal with Lotus, Go Massa!
4. MP4-28 --> Advanced car hampered by Perez, buoyed by Button and both good on tires
5. C32 --> Lots of success will boost performance
6. W04 --> Hamilton will flatter it and take it much farther than it ought to, solidifying his respect in many eyes
7. FW35 --> More consistent finishes to match the teams potential
8. VMJ0...the Force India --> No Hulkenberg
9. STR --> Run of the mill, the drivers have more to stress to perform than the car
10. CT-02 --> First points!
11. MR --> First points!

With DRS advantage nearly gone for next season, it will be who has the fastest race car. No gimmicks, so we might see some interesting results in qualifying. It's all about who can manage internal air flow and around the wheels for next year, so we could see some shakeups as designs converge on that now well established design direction.

My money is on Red Bull and McLaren again. to have the fastest cars.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Most likely right, but cant help but think that the F2012 was a new design and not an evolution or refined machine like the RB8. And still its race pace was not far behind and sometimes as good as RBR and Macca. I think with some time over the winter to refine the package and right some wrongs they could be looking good. Especially since RBRs DDRS will be banned which gave them an edge in Quali.

Ferrari as proved by Sauber their engine and a refined Aero package can be a winner. If they refine it I see Alonso winning he did almost win on a bad car now = Same car but with all the bugs fixed. IDE give the Ferrari driven by Alonso a strong contentio for the tittle. What I really wana see is the Lotus and Mercedes in 2013 both McLaren Nd RedBull will be strong we know this but can Mercedez and Lotus close the gap... Sauber even... I wonder??

Probably a RBR/Ferrari battle again.

Wildcard: Mercedes and Hamilton.

1) Red Bull <-- Obviously will continue strong form

2) Ferrari <-- putting 2nd because I think it's likely, F2012 wasn't too bad but could very well be 3rd or 4th

3) McLaren(capable of top spot but driver lineup performance remains to be seen)

4) Lotus <-- have very good potential for higher places

5) Mercedes <-- Lewis will flatter the car

6) Sauber <-- Hulk will do well

7) STR <-- Key's influence will help fight with Sauber by mid season

7) Force India <-- More $$ into program will help but jury still out on Paul IMHO

where does this put Williams? I rate Bottas

I see an epic battle at the front

RedBull venturing to new extremes -as they have won three titles in a row they can take more risks 1-4
Ferrari erasing the shortcomings of their new concept 1-2
Mclaren developing their sound concept 1-2
Lotus developing theirs solid 4th

MGP will struggle to match those so anything 4-8 sorry no wins next year
Sauber remaining 5-7th
Williams mixing in there too
Force India matching Sauber 5-7
TR likely to fight with Caterham and Marussia 7-8
Caterham taking the fight to TR at times
Marussia equal to Caterham but will not beat them overall

:mrgreen:
i did not mention them either in my list..

Fact is the competition is fierce and it very much depends on having a good driver pairing who deliver the goods not just occasionally but constantly.

Same goes for the teams.

Mclaren had a very good car and superb drivers but still not even 2nd in the final standings...
Ferrari almost Champs with a very good driver (later two) 100%reliability and the 4th best car if at all...
Sauber had a superb car ,good reliability but drivers letting the ball drop too often
Mercedes crap reliability +mediocre car
williams had a super car but drivers to forget

you can afford a soso reliability (reDBull) ,a soso car (Ferrari) but you need the driver to deliver that is a fact mirrored by this years results.
so it pays off to invest in capable peddlers and look after your quality department it´s not just newey .
