Yes, a car that can compete with the top teams, and actually pass them on the track during real races. This didn't seem to happen much last year.

If they can do a 2009 (without loop hole gimmicks) and make a car very fast out the box that tapers down near end of season, i'd be satisfied. I'm not going to fool myself into believing they can keep up with Mclaren, ferrari and redbull developmet pace.

Well Mercedes budget is a lot better funded now that the corporate money is coming in, so they have the ability to develop throughout the season as opposed to the last two years. They started well in 2012, and gradually faded back because they simply didn't have the budget invested into the 2012 car, partially because the car was a developmental dead end, and also because they started developing the 2013 car roughly after the Monaco GP. With next years regulations being relatively stable I think they started 2013 early, designing a chassis with a wider window for development, and used the second half of 2012 as a testing session for evaluating aerodynamic components.

In 2011 their development pace wasn't too bad, they just never were in the mix to begin with. This past year their development fell off a cliff after their fairly large b-spec update. They started with a podium contender and lost it in the development race.

I'm just interested to see the new car. Rosberg and Hamilton are capable drivers. Most of the aerodynamic loop holes have been closed and the teams will be designing similar cars. :|

Externally yes more or less, but there are still areas where teams are free to develop. Particularly the internal aerodynamics as well as the wheel air ducts. Also with relative freedom for design and development, are the flaps near the sidepod entry, along with the nose shape and extensions.

Yeah, the tight regulations almost spur more off the wall innovations.

I'm expecting a rocketship. Stable regs, new three, no free to use drs in qually, months to work on coanda, two top drivers, super team. It's gonna be brawn 2009 all over again! I hope.

I would really like to see a car with a good race pace, something we have not seen(except in a few races) in the last three seasons. And specially a car which do not destroy the tyres, this would be a huge improvement. Then, as others have mentioned, a coherent and regular development through the season, which is something we should always expect from a team like Mercedes.

It this that difficult? I dont think so.

Of course it will be silver again. Otherwise it isn't a silberpfeil. It's like the red of Ferrari.

I am too, can't wait to see what they'll be able to do next year. They are on the back foot really, the only team of the grid that doesnt have a solid base from the previous year(s)

wait you saying with this, rosberg and schumacher were not capable drivers? probably both drivers were fault for bad mercedes season, it was drivers not cars
