McLaren MP4-28 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

IMO the main goal for every team is rear df. The main benefit of the front pull rod is not the low COG. The horizontal rod lies in one line with the front wing upwash. The result is more controled and improved airflow at the back of the car. The low COG is bonus. :) To work this concept, the tube must be high.

But I'm not sure that it would be legal in today's regs
I'm pretty sure this is illegal!
Because Renault had an kind of active suspension from the brake pedal.
When the driver braked, he pushed oil into the dampers & the car would not lower during braking.
This was illegal, so i think active aero's with the steering would be illegal too.

Please don't double post! Why start the same conversation in two different places? #-o

If someone could embed the photo properly I can remove my previous post. Is the nose, (while hideously pointy) not too high for this year's regulations?

How do you think that could be the real car? How?

 If the image are true we have:
- holy god high nose
- something over the nose to manage airflow
- passive fduct to beam wing

but the very interesting thing is behind the sidepods. there seems to be a structure going from the engine cooling to where exhaust blows, aka Red Bull but very larger, and space inside it (letting flow go to rear wing). Not very sure about the legality or if I am a visionary

It's clearly gonna be the -25/-26/-27 in it's original configuration under that sheet.

It does seem that the front wheels are on blocks or something. It could be the real car.

You can see from the height of the tops of the tires that the car is lifted.

Also looks kinda like the R cascades are back on the front wing.

It might actually be th e28 under there...maybe...i am saying that only from the shape of the sidepods...i have outlined the car's visible lines:

if it is the 28..it has RB style sidepods
