Kubica said "My first day of testing in the DTM car, gave me a lot of fun and helped a lot to learn about this series and Mercedes AMG car, the C-Coupe. Installation lap I drove on dry track, but then it started raining heavily and we had to wait until conditions improve. It was good to see the new car in different weather conditions. I was able to feel the car well. After a long break, I had to get used again to high load factor generated by a DTM car. I am satisfied with my first test in the DTM, I had no problems in the car "
Robert did 114 laps on the Ricardo Tormo track. It is close to 500 km

After assuming he had irrevocably lost the dexterity and strength necessary to drive an F1 car, I'm now actually thinking it might happen. We know he's got the willpower and it's nice to see him a) using his arm a lot more than in previous photos and b) behind the wheel of that car in that company.

It's great to see him driving a DTM car, smiling and being positive (that's what I really admire at him during all this tough period) but I can't help to notice that his hand still looks pretty weak. I hope he recovers as much as it's possible after such a horrendous accident and we will see him in a Formula 1 car again, even if just for some testing.

I still remember Kubica in 2008 he was a beast! First race in 2008 Australia he put it on the first row. Could have been pole but he messed up the last corner

The videos made my day! It is so good to see him on track. Doesnt seem to have lost any of his speed. The right hand looks bad but he says its getting better. Hopefully he ll be fit enough for a season in DTM. You can see how much he's happy to be driving again.

Robert Kubica opts for the Citroën DS3 RRC

A few weeks after having competed in two rallies in a C4 WRC, Robert Kubica has decided to pursue his rally driving career in a Citroën DS3 RRC. The Pole’s 2013 programme will get underway at the Rally Islas Canarias – the third round of the FIA European Rally Championship – before he begins his campaign in the WRC2 at Rally de Portugal.

Eagerly awaited by his fans, Robert Kubica’s 2013 racing programme is set to place much greater emphasis on rallying. After having predominantly taken part in national rallies thus far, the Polish driver will compete in the European and World Rally Championships in a Citroën DS3 RRC.

“I weighed up the different options before deciding on this programme,” confirmed the Krakow-born driver. “I kept in touch with Citroën Racing and both sides were keen to continue working together. I’m really pleased now to be able to return to top-level racing. Taking part in Rally Islas Canarias will be an interesting challenge for me. I can’t wait to start racing, but I haven’t set myself any specific target. I still have a lot to learn in rallying and to improve I will need to rack up the miles on the stages.”

Three weeks after competing in the Canaries, Robert Kubica will line up at the start of his first World Championship Rally in Portugal. Entered in the WRC2, he is committed to contesting seven rounds of the 2013 calendar. He may also end up competing in additional European Championship rallies.

Faithfully derived from the DS3 WRC, the RRC version differs from its big sister in that it has more restrictive aerodynamic features and a smaller turbo flange. Following special dispensation granted by the FIA, the Polish driver’s car will have a specifically-designed gearbox, with a paddle installed to the left of the steering wheel.

“I am especially pleased to have Robert Kubica as one of our drivers in 2013,” added Yves Matton, Citroën Racing Team Principal. “Thanks to the support of his partners, we are in the process of putting together a racing programme that will enable him to improve in a car that offers similar handling to a World Rally Car. Robert’s determination is an example to us all and we are proud to associate Citroën Racing’s image with such a resolutely positive individual. I would also like to thank the FIA for supporting us with this arrangement.”

Robert Kubica has been seeded at car five for his debut in the European Rally Championship, next week's Canaries Rally.
The former Grand Prix winner will be co-driven aboard his Citroen by fellow Pole and experienced navigator Maciek Baran. This will be the pair's first outing together.
Starting ahead of Kubica's Citroen will be last year's winner Jan Kopecky, whose factory specification Skoda Fabia S2000 runs at car one.
There are five different makes in the top five for the third round of the ERC, with Irishman Craig Breen's Peugeot 207 second on the road, Daniel Oliveira's Ford Fiesta RRC behind him and local star Luis Monzon's Mini John Cooper RRC just ahead of Kubica.
Thirty international entries have been received for the event, 17 of which are ERC regulars. The event starts with a ceremonial start in Las Palmas on Thursday March 21.
The first of 14 stages runs the following morning, with the event finishing on Saturday afternoon.
