A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe."Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Like last year every team wil update the car, the last test. The W03 update last year did improve the car a lot. Everyone is hiding their secrets, the car looks plain but i think every teams car this care looks quite basic not a lot of changes. Because of the rules i think we will see quite of lot of teams bring a big update so their rivals have a shorter time to copy it. Because this year the pack will be even closer, so every little gadget/golden bullet type a deal is worth hiding.
Why are people complaining that the car looks simple? The Lotus E20/21 doesnt look complex either but it was quite fast as we know from last year. Also the W03 was to complicated to setup, maybe this car is simple but has a nice balence and that is the most important thing, to have a solid base which you can build on so you solely focus on making it beter rather then complicated car that is hard to figure out.

Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."
I guess Sauber should donate the space that they have saved by making the rear so thin. Look at the car's aerial shot, it looks like W04 designers have ran out of space. They have pushed the roll structure into the rear wing.
