There is a pattern of the long runs that Nico is doing. One hot lap, slow down, then continue doing long run. None of the runs look any different in terms of tyre performance. Anyone knows what tyres he is using?

I'd be surprised if that really happens. Last year they looked to be thereabouts too, but as the season unfolded they were nowhere.

They had a very very reliable dog, so they could pick up all the points dropped by the faster, unreliable competition.

Mercedes was there abouts at the start of the season also, just as their preseason testing indicated. Their tire issues, as seen in testing, were also present. They didn't fall off until later in the season.

If the Mercedes looks good now, they will likely be in the mix at the start of the season, just like last year.

And Rosberg just put in an 1m18.766s

Preseason testing did not indicated too much. Rosberg was matching Maldonado on a race simulation at the first test in Barcelona, and what happened in the race on May ? Maldonado won (something nobody had anticipated from pre season testing) and Rosberg was 7th 77s behind him.

Last year was the toughest pre season testing to read into, with all the confusion at the beginning of the season confirming how much it was difficult to anticipate something (7 different winners on 4 different cars for the first 7 GPs).

Rosberg is on a good stint: already 10 laps in 1:21.

Is there any info of the tires of Rosberg when he did the 1:18.766 (88) lap? It looks like it was beginning of a long stint (15 laps) so I think it was medium or hard tires.

It looks like Massa´s time was on softs or super softs, which are over a second faster than the mediums,so it turns out that JB time wasn´t bad at all

I think in regards to the track surface being too rough, I think it's stress testing your components.

I think there are no supersofts for Jerez test.
