Ferrari F138

Most definitely a hole, as confirmed by this article on Omnicorse.

Gary Anderson says F138 wit McL probably fastest car in Jerez.
That's nice to see he didn't take account of the tyres or the track, at all. He's paid to write something and he just wrote another junk article...

Indeed. Already from a normal F1 weekend it's pretty apparent that the track gets faster as the miles go down on the track.

Let's assume Ferrari have decided to push the limits in terms of rules. And lets say, the opening is directing air, under the driver into so region of benefit. You would at least need to put up some sort of pretense that there was a significant need for driver cooling. It was very early on that Felipe complained about the heat.

Blind Freddy can see that the opening is way overkill for that stated task, but, in the same vein as they didn't stop engine overrun (despite the fact that it was so obvious that teams were going to extremes beyond what was necessary) perhaps Ferrari is hoping their "hole-in-the-nose-gate" opening will get the same treatment by CW et al.

Is it or is it not a hole for driver cooling? That is the question...

It should be noted that days 3 and 4, when the 'driver cooling hole' appeared, temperatures were down at around 3 or 4 degrees. If the driver needs cooling in near freezing conditions, what size hole will be required at hot races? #-o #-o

I think this slot is integrated on the nose.
So it is easy to change configuration with different faces

It actually occurs to me that Massa complaining about the lack of cooling in the cockpit might be a clever way of suggesting that the *primary* purpose of this duct is cooling - when it fact it will also have a secondary effect...

Ferrari do keep talking about pushing the rules, like they perceive RB do

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that this was already pointed out. Carry on...

I think this analysis is a bit better than the one done by the expert Mr Anderson.

I thought holes in the nosecones was illegal, hence the reason Red Bull made half a hole last year.

maybe there is a loophole in the regs, or it is just in the regs that you can't have one in the tip but in the next box

this is from day 3 in jerez. there is no whole on massa car. than why he said that it was for cooling the driver when he doesn't have it? that "misterious" whole was only on De la Rosa car next day.

Maybe this image can help us to see the hole.
