Being A Formula 1 Driver In Malaysia

i am 14.my family is average,i am really f1 addict, i collect toy models, stuff
how do we really start to become an f1 driver

I'm sorry to say that it's a bit too late to be an F1 driver. They all start from a really young age doing karting and by about 14/15 they're about to step into Formula Renault and what not.

Maybe consider being a rally driver or touring car driver or something like that, they are much more accessible than F1

As Muse says, you might be a bit late to start on the path to F1.

you can still enjoy car racing, find somewhere off the public road where you can start driving. Possibly karts, but I also suspect you're old enough to start trying out real cars on tracks. Are there any amateur circuit/stock car/hill climb/autocross venues where you can start learning racing technique?

i wan't to race for fun not make it my career if i make it to GP2, or any other formula series, i would be really happy, but dad is not supporting me, he said its a dangerous job to do,by the way if i go to this kind of school http://www.jimrussell.com/ does it brighten my chance of being an f1 driver still?

If you have talent (something you will discover pretty early on) then it´s not too late.

I know of a certain individual who started rallying at the age of 21 and is now the most successful rally driver there has ever been.

I would not suggest pursuing stints in GP2 and similar series unless you are serious about getting to F1 (and have a lot of talent) or come from a rich family (and don't need to worry about your life after racing). To be competitive enough to attract sponsorship to fund your racing career would most likely require sacrificing your education, and considering that you won't earn anything racing in lower formulae, you can't just do it for fun. You have to ask yourself what you will do once you are spit out from the choppy waters of GP3/2 and WSR, especially if you sacrifice your education for racing. My advice would be to pursue a career in the Air force to satisfy your need for speed, unless you are supremely talented. I think Mark Webber started serious racing at 14, not sure though.

you should start karting first then decide if you are cut out to be in motor racing.

i cant remember the name of that driver but the started karting when he was 21

Vitaly Petrov(born 1984) did not begin his career in karting, as there was very little motorsport where he lived. He began competing in motorsport in 1998, when he took part in rally sprints and ice races. Afterwards he began competing in the Russian Lada Cup in 2001. He remained in the series for 2002 dominating the championship, winning each round to amass the maximum points total of 500.

Wow, really?! I guess now we know why he has all them first lap incidents.

So Jameel, I guess it's not too late to start. Get karting and see what that leads to!

But as others have said, karting is a good start then try and get into lower formulae. A sponsorship deal from Petronas wouldn't go amiss

J. Villeneuve started at 13 or 14 too, and I think the guy you're looking, Jameel, is Damon Hill. And it wasn't even kart but motorcycle.
