Yeah well, what ya gonna do. By F1 standards his car should be open wheeled.beelsebob wrote:I just noticed, Vettel's lap was actually illegal (by F1 standards) – all 4 wheels off the track in the second last corner.
I believe it is the international sporting code that says it is illegal to leave the the track, defined by the white lines, so it should cover everything FIA not only F1turbof1 wrote:Yeah well, what ya gonna do. Well by that standard it is also disallowed for a traffic car to cross the white lines, yet f1 cars do this always with 2 wheels .langwadt wrote:I believe it is the international sporting code that says it is illegal to leave the the track, defined by the white lines, so it should cover everything FIA not only F1turbof1 wrote:Yeah well, what ya gonna do. Which will gain you far more time then cutting the 2nd to last corner. Anyone who has played the track in a video game will realise just how much the first part of hammerhead throws the car out of balance and you can gain an immense amount of time but cutting the corner even a little bit. I don't think the camera angles they show really conveys just how much of a corner the first part of hammerhead is.raymondu999 wrote:As was, let's not forget - Hamilton's lap. He cuts the white lines on the entry to the Hammerhead (the first left hairpin before the long right)
Calling that track wet, let alone some of the worst conditions ever is putting very generously. It is damp at best.ajdavison2 wrote:So as the name suggests Lewis is apparently appearing on this weeks Topgear. Should be interesting, last time it was some of the worst conditions on the track and he done a mighty quick time. The board is currently headed by a certain Mr Vettel. Hopefully he will get the same conditions and give us a general idea of where the 2 drivers stand relative to each other. Obviously just a general idea as no 2 sets of conditions could ever be identical outside of a lab.

No he doesn't. He gets two wheels across the line on both, but never 4.Websta wrote:He actually cuts it twice - on the entry and at the apex of hammerhead.
