2013 Car Comparison

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Ahhh, the yearly all cars aligned pictures...
Great if they are accurate, rarely accurate enough. Please provide some context, where is that coming from, who did it, and most important, how have all cars been scaled? The way the picture is arranged, maybe through the front wheels? The fact that they bothered with the Williams gives me a bad omen.
Context, please!

Edit: see two posts below.

To be fair its one of the better ones I've seen in terms of angular similarities.

OK, in justice the alignment is better than most. I used a larger, sharper distance in the car as a benchmark: from the floor to the top of the legality panel behind the airbox. All cars are expected to be the same size there. The floors can never be perfectly parallel to the camera, but these come pretty close. Also, some cars have rake, but about 1 pixel worth of it only. I used the orange line as a reference and moved the pics to that the floor just insinuates itself below it. the red line is then a reference for correctness. The Williams is way off, but it is the 2012 car anyways. Other than that, the Red Bull seems to be slightly larger than the others, but that's about it. Pretty good scaling overall.
The image was quite low res, which didn't help with aligning the floors. What was its source? Is there a higher resolution version? Then I would have a second go at it.

Well they say copying your rivals always leads to succes. That car must really be a testimony to that philosophy.

Red Bull & Lotus look to have placed the driver a bit further forward than the others ?
