why would they switch to the old exhausts now? I mean, haven't they designed the sidepods etc for the new exhausts?

Im not sure, the shape of the pods isn't different just the exhaust positioning.

Testing the old config could help them understand the new.

from the pretty consistent times hamilton is setting, could it be that the conventional exhausts (non-coanda) offer way less degradation with these new pirelli tires? if so, mercedes have a new dilemma.

I wonder if Lotus are again suffering from telemetry issues. Kimi hasn't done more than the 4 installation laps right at the start of the session.

EDIT: Nevermind, Lotus tweeted right when I hit send that they're changing gearbox.

And that time came on a 14 lap run. I am trying to imagine, if they remove the 10 lap worth of fuel and do quali sim, what the time could be.
