Comparing lap times of different series' cars

Post

I was just wondering if anyone has seen any comparative times (on the same tracks) between F1, A1, Le Mans, V8 supercars etc..

Looking at Sepang in Malaysia - which is used for A1 and F1 races.

Fastest lap time in an F1 car: 1:34.223 (Montoya in 2004)

Fastest lap time in an A1 car: 1:55.373 (Team France)

What would a V8 Supercar do? What about an Indycar? A Le Mans car?

Has anyone seen any side-by side lap/split/speed-trap times ever? I think it would make an interesting 'spreadsheet'.

You can use the venue of the montreal gp to compare Champ Car against F1
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Google for the "Pomeroy Index"

This is a system for comparing relative performance of cars across eras and types then apply to a theoretical laptime at any track

Monza (mostly going by memory)

F1 :
Unofficial record, set by Badoer in 2004 during testing : 1’18”7, during official Events I think the fastest lap was set by JPM in 2004 qualifying with fuel, 1’19”6 or something.
This year with the V8 they did 1’21”4 in qualifying with fuel, a 1’21”0 is maybe possible.

GP2 : 1’30” (qualifying)

Lmp2 : 1’37”-38” (Porsche RS in testing, possibly they could do better)

FIA GT1 : 1’43”-45”

F3 : 1’47”-48” (pretty much same as SBK)

F.Renault 2000 : 1’52“-53”

Ferrari F430 Challenge : 1’54”8 (fastest lap in races last week, top speed about 270 km/h)

WTCC : 2’00”-01”

F.Junior (single seaters without wings and a 1200 cc 75 hp engine) : 2’20”-22”
