McLaren MP4-28 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The fins on top of the sidepods do seem slightly different the out edge(tips) seem to have a little flick and the old one`s were straight? no new front wing yet, perhap`s they are waiting for it to dry as don`t have a spare?

Both drivers have been saying that the new car is difficult to set up and seems to change in feel during the sessions. This might end up a "hot and cold" car for McLaren with it being hugely quick when the drivers can get it dialled in and midfield when they can't.

I guess they're playing around with the sub-nose turning vanes in an attempt to get a consistent feel from the car for the drivers.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Look at the earlier pictures ... They have allways had that upward flick.

I was thinking the nose looked lower too, but thought it was a trick. Anyone got a comparison shot?

I thought this during the previous test so I had a look; I think the nose point is probably about the same height as the v2.0 nose from the -27 but the chassis is obviously a lot higher on the -28. The illusion is in whether the bodywork atop the FW pylons is convex or concave which confused me for a while!

I'm sure at one point I saw last years fins under the nose/tub.

I ain't too confident this year, especially after reading this:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105760

I think just a fan's 'hot and cold' opinion is a good one
