Williams FW35 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The standard axles have a nice pointy cone to guide the wheel gun onto the nut for removal and then the nut onto the axle for tightening the new wheel. So I guess there is possible risk of the wheel gun needing more care to connect as quickly.

Tim - If the cone is on the wheel gun in reverse to the current arrangement, then that would protrude beyond the nut, and that would require a recess into the wheel?

I think he means a small cone or shaft on the gun that will slot into the wheel blower hole? It would be inside the nut.

dunno how well it would work........oval hole and all.......I guess it would still end up in the centre of an oval.
I imagine it would have to be short/sloppy to be fast.

surely its the blower hole that is oval?

It could be optical illusion, but I think on nose 2 that they are using the modesty panel to place the nose slightly higher. Nose 1 obviously is designed around the bulge under the nose. Dunno why they want to try out nose 3; surely the CoG is offset by the (marginal) aero disadvantages.

My guess would be that its an old wing and they were just testing it out for reference.

Any news if they still run those fins on the exhaust bulge?
