Nico is using DRS in two areas – that's because Barcelona will have 2 DRS zones this year.

Note, this makes the times the drivers are setting all the more impressive. DRS probably gained them near a second a lap in qualifying, so we're talking about the Merc setting times more like 3.8 seconds (2.8 plus DRS usage) a lap faster than in qualifying last year.
The 2013 tires however probably also offer ~0.5 seconds more compared to last year.
Very true, yes.

I can't understand what all the fuss is about. All people are getting excited about is data that is available from testing. Mercedes has set genuinely fast laps. They have been consistent and they have done well on tyre management. I don't recall anybody saying Mercedes is the best car or that its going to win the WDC or WCC this year.

The whole point is that people are saying its another dog of a car thats going to show its true colours once the race season starts. I don't see any evidence of this. If anybody has evidence of this, please by all means share it. Otherwise stop the unnecessary snide comments.

Do any of you guys have a live timings site that is actually displaying all of the lap times so I can see the stints / long run pace?

I usually use msfree.gr or f1tests.info but both either not working or very temperamental today. :(

F1today.net appears to just have headline lap times.

Not quite, because all the people that dont like the outcome of Q3 will just say, its Oz, it throws up random orders, we must wait for the European season to begin, blah blah blah

Mercedes only showed their pace, to see where others are, to show proggress they made. They behave as arrogant kids: "we dont have performances, but they are 3 sec faster then last year, yea rigght" Luckly others dont have time to play with kids, real magicians dont reveal their tricks until q3 in melbourne.

How do you know Mercedes has shown their pace?
How do you know their motivation for doing so if they have?
How do you know the others haven't shown their pace?

Can we stop with this fanboyism? Time to focus on F1 testing again.

+1 Precisely. Oz is at times somewhat of a strange circuit in terms of who ends up where.

#-o

His point (at least as I took it) was not that Auz does strange things, but instead, that it would not end the debate, simply because people will make excuses for their team's poor performance.

They did, you know it, I know it, we know it, teams know it.
They needed it for their condfidence of good winter they had, to justifie all money they spend last year for mercedes board and show progress from midfield team. Maybe only Ferrari showed their pace, because of lack of updates for this test, too see how fast car in this moment is. Others big teams hiding their performances you know it i know it we know it.

Alonso is out on Softs.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Can anyone elaborate why there isn't live timing available?
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."
