Your thoughts on who will win the teammate rivalries 2013?

Post

I ran an analysis/piece on my blog about winners of inter-team rivalries.

I predicted the following outcomes:

Vettel (to beat Webber) by 70-90 points
Alonso by 50-70 points
Button by 50-60 points
Raikkonen by 5-15 points
Hamilton by 20-30 points
Hulkenberg by 40-60 points
Di Resta by 2-5 points
Bottas by 5-10 points
Ricciardo by 5-15 points
Pic by 0 points (close)
Bianchi by 0 points (comfortably)

Your thoughts?

I agree that Vettel will outperform Webber... and Hamilton will outperform Rosberg. Though I feel Hamilton v/s Rosberg will be lot closer.

I also feel Massa will give Alonso a bit more of a challenge this year. I'm thinking 40-50 points instead of 50-70.

I also think Raikonnen will outperform Grosjean by a far larger margin.

As for Button v/s Perez. I have a feeling that there might be an upset this year. Button is fussy with his car setup and the McLaren isn't looking too great so far. But for Perez it will be a step up.

I think Button and Perez may be closer just because the car will not be in the big points for a while, if at all.

I expect the Hamilton and Rosberg battle to be even.

I expect Sutil to get the better of di Resta.

I will say that I am very interested to see just how good Rosberg is. I have for many years thought he is quite underrated, and now will see just how well he stacks up against Hamilton (just about the highest bar you could set). I would choose Hamilton to win or at least equal every driver on the grid, so I have to give the edge to Hamilton in that particular rivalry, but I am hoping it is a close contest.

I think Grosjean will be closer this year. He got a good haul of points last year considering he was taken out in Oz and pushed off at Monaco, lost a podium at Valencia and generally messed up in 50% of the other races.

Kimi meanwhile had perfect reliability and completed all but 1 lap (lapped at Brazil iirc) and that surely won't happen again.

Lessons learnt and luck will swing it! (very scientific reasoning)

Too early to comment for me really, but I feel confident saying this. Vettel will beat Webber, Sutil will take Di Resta, and Kimi will beat Grosjean. I expect Alonso will take Massa too. It's going to be an interesting season I think.

teammate rivalrery is going to be very interesting after today's race.

It will be the underdogs vs their star-studded world champion teammate.

Webber Vs. Vettel***
This one is nothing new,

Rosberg Vs Lewis*
Make or break season for Rosberg as he cannot be happy to play no.2 driver for a German team.
It will be interesting to see what the German media will say about today's race

Alonso** Vs Massa
Alonso will have a tough time on hand dealing with Massa. 2013 will be a tougher season for him.

Vettel is easy to call.

Rosberg - Hamilton will be tougher. Nico was clearly faster today, and I'm not sure he was much slower in Australia either. Hamilton is the better qualifyer, but I think Nico has Lewis on pace in the race.

Alonso - Massa is impossible to say, but while I wouldn't bet for it, I wouldn't be surprised if Felipe actually edges out Fernando this year.

I'm not convinced Nico was faster. Lewis was slightly faster in all the former stints than Nico, and Nico was not sufficiently faster to pull away from Hamilton after passing him in the final stint. I do agree that the two are very closely matched in a race though.

When did the first teamorder come for Rosberg? Lap 51 or so?
I think he would have easily pulled a gap in 5/6 laps.
