Thoughts from FP1..

Red Bull look quickest for qualifying. Lotus and Ferrari will make up the 2nd row of the grid, unless Mercedes are holding back (which I doubt) so they should occupy 3rd row.

Mercedes were lapping roughly .2 or .3 slower than the Red Bulls on the long runs. Although Rosberg was matching Vettel in some sectors. Lotus could be the one to beat again, or should I say Kimi? :)

Romain doesn't look like he can get the same pace from the car.

McLaren really have a pig on their hands.. surely it would be better to bring back last year's car?

During Pre-season testing people expected the sauber to set the track on fire.. The team seems to have taken it a wee bit seriously..

Meanwhile, Gutierrez has some dramas in his Sauber after the onboard extinguisher has discharged as he clattered over a kerb.

Lotus and Ferrari look mighty indeed today.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Yes - I wonder what the issue is?

Last year, RG did not appear to have difficulty being around the pace of KR.

Last year Grosjean was closet to Raikkonen because he had just come back from Rallying, but with the FInn fully integrated into Lotus he's unstoppable.

Also I've heard that Kimi is not very me mechanically minded, or less so than other drivers. He just wants to get in the car and drive the balls off it. His "leave me alone I know what I'm doing" radio call being a famous example. He is not to bothered by engineers and their problems.

I think this year that the car is quick, maybe the quickest, and more to the point the engineers really seem to understand the car and its capabilities, they can give Kimi everything he wants setup wise to unlock his raw pace.
Last year this was not true so the gap between grosjean and Kimi seemed closer.

Di Resta on hards 0.003 faster than Lewis on mediums. Can't be good news for Merc i suppose.
